I live my hitch in because it saves my truck from getting rear-ended. It put a nice hole in a mini-cooper this year and on my last truck it broke the block in half of a Geo Metro ;)

i don't think it keeps your truck from being hit, sure sounds like it helps though. Aren't geo metro blocks made from cheese though?

Yeah I meant to say it will lessen the damage in a collision.
Yeah metro blocks are complete garbage, it popped apart like it was ceramic.

Big thing around here used to be to hang a cow bell from somewhere off your pickup. Some of my friends done this (in high school) who were city slickers. They usually took them off after I gave them a hard time about it.

Agreed. They would NEVER be on my truck. I usually just keep the Toyota hitch cover over it. Unless I'm actually going to be towing.

I used to keep my tow hitch on all the time until some random person at college took it out, apparently used it, and then put all the components back in the bed of the truck:confused: then I started to store it in the cab. at least they were decent enough not to steal it haha

i always have something in my hitch. I towed my trailer alot this summer on scrap metal runs, and then my boat, so I almost left the ball in all summer. Now, I have a hitch haul on the back of my truck..that will really ruin someones day if they hit it. I just replaced my bumper on my truck this past summer, so I'm taking every precaution possible.

and I bought that hitch safe for my dad last year..He always complained about taking his keys in the woods with him when hunting..didnt wanna loose them. He now uses this thing and has peace of mind. He set the combo to something that only he knows also.

Nothing major or fancy. Just stuff to make it work better for me. Running boards, seat covers, BakFlip
If it's illegal they don't enforce it. I've had a ball on every pickup I've had in California and that's several. The ball goes on the day I bring it home and stays on 'til I trade it in.

And the nut sack hanger? We only see those on pickups driven by people with room temperature IQs.

I never leave mine in, knew a very nice lady that was walking through a parking lot and didn't see the hitch ball stickin out of the trailer hitch. She tripped and feel breaking her knee. JMHO I think it is a hazard to some folks like the elderly and others that arn't familiar with them.
