I know this is from forever ago but apparantly I don't get to this thread often.

Hey there from a fairly local neighbour. I'm in Grande Prairie.

Chalk one up for another Gulf Islander. Hey OZ-T! I'll look out for you here on Salt Spring Island.

One thing I notice here where I live... there are plenty of '89-94 4x4's, and lots of '98-04's as well, but the '95-'97's seem curiously rare. I'm driving a white '97 extended cab 4cyl. My first 4x4... loving it!

    Thanks guys.
Previously I was driving an '89 single cab longbed 2wd automatic and really enjoyed it. I discovered the toyota minis forum and hadn't realized what a cult following those little truck had. Apparently a lot of guys like to put 4x4 fenders, bumpers and griles on them and drop them down, with expensive rims and low profile tires. There are some sharp projects on there! Mine was (and current Tacoma is) a work truck so I was going to borrow some ideas to sport it up. But at the same time my real desire was to find a Tacoma 4x4 and became quite well versed with the prices. Ultimately a buddy of mine was letting his go in favor of a '97 Dodge 4x4 dual wheel turbo diesel, and I picked it up at a really great price (for the west coast, anyway).
The timing couldn't have been better because within two weeks of me buying the Tacoma the '89 2wd blew its timing chain, as I was preparing to sell it. Plus the insurance ran out at the same time. Ultimately a buddy of mine took it off my hands for $700 and dealt with the repair and he's happy as ever with it.

And I'm happy to be done with that as well. And now concentrating on my '97. Getting familiar with some of the lingo and mods. First up will be replacing the flimsy rear springs. Enjoying this forum as much as the Taco!

I'm new to the forum and live in Toronto.

Nothing much modded except for cosmetics.
As soon as my warranty expires I'll reprogram the computer, custom-fit exhaust dump, and drop in a supercharger.

I am Canadian! Got a 2011 Tacoma SR5 access cab 4x4 4cyl auto. I am a contract operator in the oilpatch up here in Northern BC. Will be spending a bit of time on here. Been a member of a few Dodge diesel websites for the last 12 years. The truck the Tacoma is replacing is a 2004 dodge 3500 4x4. only 490,000 kms on it. Still running strong! Looking forward to lower maintenance and overall lower operating costs with Tacoma.

On my 1st 11 tanks of fuel I am averaging 11.09 L/100 kms or 21.21 usmpg.
