Mine is off by maybe a 1/4 inch and the bed/cab gap is perfect. I will leave mine as is. Look at the gap between the cab and bed. If this gap is good the cab will need to be moved too to correct the bed.

IS NOT THE BED OUT OF ALIGNMENT!
Have checked again with a stiff ruler against the tire and another ruler from the frame to the ruler on the tire and as suspected THE REAR SHAFT IS NOT CENTERED. Could be because of bad placement of welds for the shocks and leaf springs or as mentioned by my friend and also a stranger walking by, the OEM leaf springs do not have a parallel face or are installed wrong. Any way, look at the pictures and see the measurement from the frame to the tire face is not equal.
RL distance is about 16-1/16in and RR is 16-7/16in. The rear-right tire is offset to the right by about 1/2in. Curious is this is a common offset on all 16-17 Tacos (more or less?) and if the problem remained the same after the OEM leaf springs have been replaced. Please post your findings.

    Since you humored me...
My RR is 1/4" greater than RL.
Meh...I'm not going to sweat a 1/8" difference.

    Could be twisted, not offset.
Maybe weak-ass springs and right-hand torque applied from an open differential. Might need a thrust alignment with a sledge...u- bolt torque good?

You're probably not getting to get a whole lot of answers regarding whether new leafs fix it.
People aren't aware if this a thing or not, so why would they measure before and after.
It would explain some shit though.

Would like to know - after - the leaf springs have been replaced or reworked. Before has no importance.
People with a lift and work done on the back could measure and post.

Toyota has come up with a fix to correct angle the drive shaft for up and down angle for the howl . It does not fix them all . Maybe they should be looking at the angle 90 degrees from it . IE the rear diff being off to the side creates an angle to the drive shaft also. Maybe this causes a howl also besides the wheels being offset
    EDIT ,
correction , the fix may be for for the rumble when slowing down under 30 , not the howl

    Yep...
One of the reasons I would use a laser line, if I was so inclined.

No, not that I have noticed. I have no noise at all except of the regular tire noise. Windows quiet also.

All solid rear axle vehicles (independent of manufacturer) have a tendency to be slightly more shifted to one side. “Problem” becomes most notable after installing after market wheels / tires.

On muscle cars, “problem” is usually corrected with a panhard bar.

If your rear axle being an 1/8" off to one side is bothering you so much, I suggest you take your glasses off so you don't see it. This is simply the way of solid rears, especially with leaf springs. It's "close enough."
