So I need new lifters in my 2.7L with 460k miles to stop the ticking noise. Toyota wants about $36 each and I need 16 of them. Rockauto has them as low as $4/each and as high as $11 each, but I really dont want to do the job twice.

    Rockauto offers

    1) Ultra Power @ $4/each
    2) Enginetech @ $4.53 each
    3) Qualcast @8.95 each
    4) Sealed Power @ $9.13 each
    5) Melling @$10.93 each

From the photos, the Melling nor the Sealed Power looks OEM.

Anybody know if any of these brand are any good, or should I just buy the stock ones from Toyota?

Sorry not sure on the lifters. I just wanted to say WOW 460k. I am at 266K and worried how much longer my motor has. Any suggestions or pointers on how to reach 460K

Mobile 1 oil changes. Also, keep an eye on the coolant color. If you eventually get oil in it, the head gasket is wearing out.

Melling and sealed power make good products.
I’ve never used them in a Toyota.

But we have used them many times in the past in Chevrolet small block builds.
They have been around a long time.

My choice of what you listed would Melling.

As much work as it is to pull the cams to replace the lifters, I would definitely pay the premium for the Toyota ones to make sure you’re only doing the job once. Pretty impressive the stockers held on for 460k! Worthy of replacing with the same imo

Car care nut says to flush the coolant every 5 years or 50k miles he says it’s the biggest issue for the 2.7 (the coolant becomes acidic and eats away at head gasket)
