I want to install a set of small forward facing infrared-tracking rockets in the hood scoop for taking out left lane bandits going 15 under the speed limit

If you were to hit a pedestrian, cyclist, or another vehicle, and those spikes were in any way "involved", you would likely lose everything you own and spend time in prison. It would not matter if the the other party were at 100% fault for the accident. Your insurance would probably not cover any of it, as it'd be trivial to show that you deliberately modified your vehicle to cause harm.

You can't discharge a personal injury debt in bankruptcy by a willful or malicious act (which would be easy to show in the case of putting big metal spikes in your hood). The debt will follow you until you die, and if it creates a high-maintenance medical condition, that could be 8+ figures.

In an accident where a cyclist deliberately ran a red light and you hit them, where there was absolutely no way you could avoid it and were entirely in the right:
    * Without the spikes they would owe you the cost of fixing your truck.
    * With the spikes, you would be paying them for the rest of your/their life.

I think the spikes are goofy, but I love how stuff like this brings out all the forum lawyers
