    Well, nearly 900,000 miles on one engine is pretty impressive. And that engine just needed a head gasket, the rest was still in good shape. He bought a used one from a scrapyard with 100k on it to replace the one with 880K. He has an additional 300K on that engine for a total of 400K. And that link is 9 months old, he averages 8-10K every month, so he probably already has close to another 100K on the truck since that article.

    1.2 million miles on the transmission is the most impressive part. And he didn't change the fluid until it had 400K on it.

    Yet it worked. Not that I recommend it, but I've been convinced for a long time that much of the maintenance we do could wait a lot longer.
