I saw this coming home from LA today. Pretty good looking setup.

 

I'm guessing the Taco didn't like that very much...

 

ouch.. i guess going wouldnt be a problem but im sure stopping is.. that camper is friggin heavy.

 

I wonder how they fabbed up the whole mounting system

 

It would have it's own brakes......

 

I see rigs like that turned over on I75 almost every trip from FL to NC and back.
You ought to see them sway even on a full sized one ton when a semi blows by them.
Yeah, the fifth wheel is better but ....

 

x2, I doubt they make a 5th wheel hitch for a tacoma. That's got to be almost scary to drive!

 

I know the Tacoma has some balls but I'm not sure mine are big enough to try towing that for any distance. Even with a 5th wheel I wouldn't put my truck through that.

 

To put thing in perspective..................they were from Ontario, Canada.

all 5th wheels bolt to the frame. What the bed is made of had nothing to do with it. I've looked into installing one in my truck in the future. There is not a tailored kit for the tacoma but universal kit would not be hard to install.

 

There are lots of double and single axel 5th wheels out there under 6000lbs gross. Towing from a 5th wheel is a better option if you can. You essentially turn your bed capacity into your max tongue weight. Not to mention it is alot more stable and the trailer will not throw the truck around as much. If i ever buy a camper trailer I will look for a 5th wheel first.

Actually it was a "she" driving. Started in LA when it was 70's, drove up Cajon Pass, through the desert and got to Vegas where is was 110F. I wanted to pull over and talk to her to find out how the ol' TacoD) was holding up.

 

Go read your owners manual on towing. There's a drawing of your Tacoma with the 5th wheel setup.

 

And here i thought nobody even noticed me
