Is this a PSA for why you should spend 35$ renting a uhaul trailer when you need to haul longer lumber?

    14ft payload in a 5ft short bed?

Might want to consider a bed extender next time.

Yeah I considered it but nothing was available in town and had a project deadline with the wife. I built a block that went across the front of the bed and held the boards down under the track system.

Just because you CAN do something doesn't make it a good idea.

FWIW, if you do this again, before you load up, rummage through the dunnage bin and find some pieces to lay across the bed, right at the end, so that when the lumber is loaded, it's raised in the [almost] the middle; this will greatly reduce the chances of some, or all of the load shifting in the event of a panic stop/accident.
