Laziness, or smart enough to plan ahead to have extra bolts on hand and save themselves the headache of bending the inner fender?

Merely an observation. My preference runs to having the bolt run downhill as a failsafe.

Good point! That's where the red loctite comes in for me, but that's my preference.

The way the inner fenders are on the 3rd gens it's almost impossible to bend the sheet metal out of the way, so you pretty much have to cut the old out and run new ones in backwards. You should drill the bolts for a cotter pin or at least double nut it.

Yeah. That bolt isn't going anywhere. Cotter pin? May as well be SUPER sure and weld it on.

Good idea but it wasn't bad at all for my 3rd gen. I used a flat piece of wood, aka free Home Depot paint stir stick, then pliers to bend it so it doesn't leave any marks and bends together easily. And I bent it back the same way. Here's mine and if you look at it, can't even tell it was bent at all. Just saying

Probably get blasted on TW for this - but, personally I would NEVER by a used lifted vehicle for the same price as new truck. Too many unknowns; who did the work, what did the previous owner do with the lifted truck (wear & tear) etc.. Just my .02 cents

I don't know that anybody will blast you. You are just clearly not the target market for this vehicle, which is cool. There are lots of people out there that will want it for looks or want it to avoid having to learn about suspensions etc to do it themselves.

I am on the F150 forums and I haven't heard of any widespread failures. Some have had issues with the new 10 speed. Ford also sells almost 5 times the number of Tacomas so there are alot more out on the road, therefore you will hear of more issues.

Since when is 45k considered high mileage? Sounds like my mother in law who knows jack about cars but thinks at 60k its time to trade in..
