Snake Oil? I couldn't find that at the Shell station this morning. Where can I get some?

I have been using a bottle of Techron every 3K miles (just passed 15K) in this truck on the off chance it will help out in the long run. I usually fill my tank every 7-10 days. When I add the Techron, I only add about 7-8 gallons, so I burn through that tank of fuel a little quicker than 7 days.

Oil change is every 5K. Toyota brand full synthetic. May change to Mobil 1 when I am out of the warranty period.

Serpent lube. Eel elixir. Read: snake oil.

    But, hey, it's your money.

Ive been on this planet 62 years and the only additive I have used is lead in my vintage tractors gas to keep the valves happy until a teardown was needed. Then the seats and valves were updated to cope with moderen fuels

That's good to know. I always felt better using the ethanol free gas but stopped when I read that Circle K was no longer a top tier brand. I may have to rethink that decision.

I don't worry about the ethanol in the gas for my truck- I go through that fuel pretty quickly.

But after having fueling problems with several small engines, my lawnmower and quad get ethanol free recreational gas with (probably unnecessary) Stabil treatment.

Chainsaw and leaf blower get the bottled 2-cycle fuel from the hardware store.

    Haven't had a problem since.

I avoid it for better MPGs as well. Not so much the cost, but if I can have my engine running more efficiently I figure I'm treating it better. I also hate ethanol on principle.

I think if you used our E10 ethanol fuel here, you'd come away with a different opinion. All vehicles I've driven since 2005 when ethanol was introduced has been fine. Its far better than that mtbe chit they were using.

Ethanol has more energy than plain gas per gallon. Leave some fuel in your lawn mower and see how much is there come summer, bring some gas with you, you will need it.

I was a service advisor at a VW dealership back in the '80's. The shop had and actual injector cleaner tool from VW. The BG rep would come in with clogged up injectors, demonstrate the lousy spray pattern, then show how BG Supercharge would clean them up with a perfect spray pattern. But that was then and this is now. As others have stated, top tier fuel is the way to go.

I'm a big believer in Sta-Bil. Drained 2 1/2 year old gas that had Sta-Bil in it out of one of my old cars. It still passed the sniff test, no varnish/turpintine smell. I used it for my lawn mower all summer. I had 2 customers who were "fuel testers" here in the Denver area tell me on 2 separate occasions that they had found as much as 30-40% ethanol concentrate at stations they tested, even though the sign said 10%.

Nope. I wouldn't. Ethanol is shit.

This is 100% wrong. It is so wrong that it is actually completely ass backwards.

i like the redline and amsoil stuff. never noticed anything with techron. star-tron made my truck act weird. i think the gumout regane high mileage or all-in-one is the best stuff you can buy that's readily available. PEA is the key ingredient.
