Who's been to a brothel?

I was going to college in Logan, Utah, and four guys I didn’t know said, “Road trip!”, and I got suckered into going. I don’t remember why Ely was their destination, but off we went in an old Ford van.

The trip was uneventful except for getting lost twice, running out of beer, having a flat tire with no spare, running out of beer, running out of beer, and oh yeah, running out of gas too. Your basic college road trip.

We get to Ely, and these guys all wanted to play blackjack but only one had fake ID, so the rest of us wait around for about an hour until we get bored and threaten to leave the guy at the tables to thumb home. Somebody gets the bright idea to find out where the local cat house is. By this time it is almost dawn.

We find it… and none of these party animals want to go in. They just sit in the van like they’re afraid they might catch something by crossing the threshold.

I can’t stand it. The trip has been a complete bust… and I’m curious.

I tell the guys, “I’m gonna check it out. Be right back.”, and jump out of the van.

The place is old. The place is scum fucking filthy. And worn, like old tennis shoes held together with duct tape.

I’m standing in a big room with a grey carpet (I think it’s grey, but it might just be the dust) so old the floor shows through in spots. To my right is another room, long and dark, with a bar running toward the back of the building. A staircase rises from the front of the house and over the bar, a hall barely visible above.

The big room has cheap metal folding chairs along the walls, reminiscent of a junior high prom. Two guys engaged in conspiratorial conversation inhabit a corner, snickering. They are both disfigured, and I get the idea they see themselves as men of the world.

No women are in evidence.

I ask the two men about that.

They assure me the girls will be right down.

And one appears at the top of the stairs.

I don’t really know what I was expecting. From the looks of the place I know it wasn’t much.

But the girl slithering down the stairs would put Mortisha Addams to shame on her best day. The chick is hot in a sultry, evil, witchy kind of way. Too-tight black nightie with black thigh length stockings, long, straight, black hair and eyes, and skin so pale you can see through it. Vampire pale.

She’s a total bitch too, just as you’d expect… but soooo beautiful.

By the time she’s put me off thoroughly, another girl tops the stairs.

She glows as she descends. The opposite of the moody brunette, this one shines like morning light on daffodils, and when she laughs it seems like the room gets a soft, warm, glow. It isn’t Goldie Hawn, but it might as well have been. I can’t even remember what she wore, but she had legs all the way up to there.

A horn honked outside, insistent. Three loud beeps, two short and one much too long.

I remembered the conversation about leaving the blackjack player to thumb home.

I picked my tongue up off the floor, adjusted my gonads, and fled.

I don’t remember the return trip, probably because I was busy remembering the unexpected visions that dwell in the house of the rising sun.

 

In 1991, I went to a brothel called El Papagayo. It was located in the “Boys Town” section of Nuevo Laredo, just across the River, in Mexico, from Laredo, Texas.

Here’s how it went down. It was a Saturday morning and we were right out of college. I had my first real job. My buddy said let’s drive down to Mexico. I said sure, let’s do it. It was a 6 hour drive, but no big deal. We screwed around and finally hit the road in the afternoon.

We parked our car on the Texas side of the river and walked across the international bridge, to Nuevo Laredo. It was dark, by now. We hit a couple of bars. Had a few drinks and said what the hell. Let’s go to Boys Town. We had heard about it, but never had been. We catch a cab and off we go!

Prostitution is legal in Mexico. Nuevo Laredo has what’s called a tolerance zone. It’s commonly referred to as “Boys Town”. It’s probably a 6 block area of town ,with a wall around it and a gate you drive through. You pay the guard at the gate a small fee and you are allowed inside. Pretty much anything goes in the tolerance zone.

The cabby recommended El Papagayo, so that’s where we went. We sat down at a table and two girls came out and sat with us. The one beside me was one of the prettiest women, I’ve ever seen in my life. She spoke broken English. I bought her a couple of shots and she offered to show me a good time for, I think it was $60. I chickened out. I was too scared of catching something.

My buddy ended up banging her. They were back in her room, for probably an hour. He said he had a great time and it was worth every penny. She showed him a fantastic time. We drank a few more beers, stumbled around. Walked in some more brothels and partied. By now the sun was coming up.

We caught a cab out of Boys Town, got a cheap room at a hotel in Mexico, slept till noon, ate lunch and headed home. My buddy didn’t catch anything from the girl.

All in all it was fun. Today, I wouldn’t go down there. The cartels have taken over and it’s very violent.

So there you have it. My brothel story. LOL

A lot of guys will tell you all sorts of stories about a trip to Boys Town. Most of those guys have never been, or thought they were in boys town and weren’t. Most of those guys are full of it. Yes there is a bar that advertised the donkey show. It’s just a scam to get guys in to buy drinks. The donkey is out in front of the bar. There is a girl beside him, but they never have sex.

Guys will tell you stories about going to jail in boys town. They will always mention the federales were somehow involved. The only cops in boys town are municipal. All that crap makes for a good story, but 99% of it never happened.

Municipal cops in Nuevo Laredo are typically corrupt. They accept bribes.

 

Sounds like good times.

Wow, good stories. I would be too chicken to go in. I used to go down to Baja to surf when I was a kid but no brothel action for me.

Brothel? I live in Brothel! Moved out here 15 years ago.

 

We had a blast!! We had a lot of good times in Nuevo Laredo, over the years, but only went to Boys Town, that once. I’ve had a lot of good meals, in some very good restaurants and drank a lot of Corona, down there.

It’s a real shame the cartels have taken over down there.
