6 miles, all surface streets, going the opposite way of traffic. Takes me 15 minutes because the speed limit is only 40 mph.

At a previous gig the boss drove 100 miles each way on So Cal freeways. He spent about 4 hours a day commuting. I did it with him once and concluded he was insane for putting himself through that every day.

My morning drive takes me near two very large Naval Bases. There are thousands of young kids racing every type of tricked out Mustang, Charger, Challenger etc. race trucks and every type of sport bike, all in competition to get on base, it's like Talladega. Wreaks are common and it's not for the timid driver.

My morning commute is about 15 miles. Takes 20-25 min in morning which isn't "too" bad. It's all city driving except for a middle stretch of about 3 miles of 2 lane highway, constant street lights that are poorly timed. Afternoon is a load of horseshit at close to 30 min on a good day and up to 40-45 on a very bad day.

My city is apparently run by people who love to have constant road construction projects that have been going on since I moved here. And when they fuck over one busy road, they fuck over the other 2 busy roads as well to make things an even bigger clusterfuck. That's on top of the shit drivers in the area mixed with closed lanes and EXTREMELY poorly timed lights. What pisses me off the most is when I moved here I figured traffic would be much better than Atlanta, but honestly it isn't much better since there are only 2 real inlets into the city from the highway and both of them were not designed for any sort of traffic.

I moved close to work, it changed my life. Three miles, nine minutes from when I lock my front door and unlock the shop door.

I ride my bike when the weather is good. I hop onto the cycling path, through the main park to the seawall, grab a coffee and sit on a bench for a half hour before work.

The only way I'd do a long commute now is if I was paid for travel and got a company car.

    My commute is horrible!

It's at least 7 feet from my bedroom to my office.

    Traffic is a bitch!
