I havent personally had them do work for me. I know another member here in hillsburo has, plus the comments i read about the service and prices online are very pleasing to my mind if i ever need to get work done.

Hey hey! I'm from Beaverton..will be moving back to oregon in December from socal. Not much activity going on here..neither does the other club anyways. Mainly because we are so spread apart. Anywho, hope we can do some runs here and there. Look foward to seeing some of you.

Superior Offroad is great. Houston the owner/installer is a cool dude and does an excellent job installing. I highly recommend anyone to check them out.

yeah i got the lift on. it was alot easier than i thought. my first mods for the runner are gonna be a defiant lightbar with some piaa's. my runner has the XREAS suspension, so for now im probably gonna lift it with FJC springs and 1/2" spacer. should give around 2.5" in the front

If you want to save some money you might want to talk to PIAA first, They make some custom kit for the Tacoma with 540's, and the 4Runner bumper is about identical.

    http://www.piaa.com/Lamps/Lamps-toyotatacoma.html

I think this allows you to skip the light bar.

You could also do another Satoshi and mount some thin lights behind (I think the 520's work). The cost is a bit lower, and then you could have options for possibly changing to an offroad bumper or something if you decided down the road.

yeah there is a guy on t4r.org that i was talking to. he said that he had a pair of piaa 520 ions and atps. said 150 each or 275 for the pair. good deal?

i wanted to go with the defiant because it doesnt need any cutting drilling etc...

Definitely not a good deal for used.

Hit up the PIAA website. You might also be able to visit them, they are located in Portland.

520 Ion crystal fog are a 95º pattern for trail riding and seeing close things.
520 Ion crystal driving are a 15º pattern for high speed driving
520 Clear SMR are a 15º pattern. I'm not sure what the big deal is other than looks
520 ATP are supposed to be a compromise between fog and driving light with a 40º beam

A trick from Australia is to get one fog and one driving so you cover all situations... but up here, unless you are doing the dunes at night, I would think the fogs would be best.

Any special reason you are going with PIAA? I've been spending a large amount of time researching and trying to decide what I want as well. Seems I change my mind daily. I was trying to devise some spendy setup, but I talked with HBMurphy last night and I think I'm coming back to the idea of going Hella 700FF with the HID conversion just because you can't beat the price. The main thing he told me was that if I don't like that setup, I'm not out much money. Sounds obvious now, but I didn't take the time to think

hmm interesting. how hard is it to do the hella HID conversion. ive seen it around but im terrible with electrical stuff so i just figured itd be too hard.

i was just talking piaa since thats what the guy had. i dont really know whats good whats not. i do know that piaa is a pretty well known brand so i wasnt too worried about that.

what i would like is to get 2 fog lights and 2 driving lights.

now if i could just figure out which...

I'm in the same boat so here's my best answers:

There's a writeup that I'm going to start with. I'm not sure how exactly difficult it is, but isn't too bad since I can utilize the factory fog wires. I can get my dad's help (electrician), plus I think a lot of the forum guys have done it so I can do some PMs. Do you have factory fogs? If not the wiring should still be fine, hardest part is running the wire. Once I have things complete I'll try meeting up with you sometime and we can look it over. Might even be able to do it together.

They are a good brand, but some people think they are a bit overpriced. From my gathering, build quality goes in this order:

Hella (probably depends on the model)
    IPF
    PIAA
    LightForce

I don't know where KC fits in, probably around IPF or PIAA. Baja Designs is probably near the top, but the price is way up there.

If you were prepared to pay for PIAA and you have the depth to mount a deep light, I think LightForce is going to be your answer. About the same price, very bright, and indestructible. I read where a guy hit a cow at 40mph and the lights continued working, mild cracking on the mounts and dome. He showed off the pics to LF and they sent him brand new lights.
They also have different lens covers to suit your needs, such as amber, yellow, etc. They have a focus adjustment sort of like a mag light flashlight - this is both good and bad: it's good that you can change it from one type to another, but bad in that some guys say you get the "halo" type beam that you also see on mag lights. You can correct this, however, by buying a dispersion filter. For a good example of LF's, look at MrGrimm's build.

i wouldnt say i was "prepared" to pay for piaa. im not sure on prices like what is considered alot and what isnt. i do have factory fogs. let me know what you decide to go with for your setup. im picking up my car this weekend so i would be down to do it together possibly

I'm not going to have time to do it too soon, this weekend I'm at a beach house, and next weekend I'm hoping to be down with RelentlessTaco for some bumper work. However, I'm hoping to do this before Nov 26th when I have a club run.

Since I'm adding lights I've decided it's a good idea to protect them a bit with a hoop.
