    RIP Lucy.
    She's gone but not forgotten.
    I was in one of my computer science classes...we'd leave the room, the instructor would get inside our machine and swap a working part for a known non working part. We'd go back in the room and troubleshoot it until we found the bad part.

    I hung a "Broken do not use" sign on mine. Told him I was hungry and going to lunch now. He said I was gonna be an excellent tech.

    divide the mass in the middle by 2 and u get 4kg. this simplifies the problem so you can take just the left side.

    Now imagine cutting the 5kg cord just to the right of the pulley. replace the cut portion with an arrow which points up and left. this is the tension in the cord.

    now draw the weight vector coming from the middle mass. it goes directly down with W=4.

    You now have two arrows and with the laws of vectors u can transmit the downward weight of 4kg over to make two ends of a triangle. Then use trig.

    Sin(x)=(4/5)
    sin-1(4/5)=x
    x=53.13
