agreed! I definitely want something classic looking. Great if you like it but this is just going for flash and look at me factor. Not my style. Its like those stupid damn "zombie guns" that people insist on having.

The marlin 336 is a great gun. The 30-30 is awesome for anything under 200 yards. definately prefer it over a winchester.

It's Marlin for me. Winchester actions are slick, but for deer, I really think one ought to be scoping his/her guns, and the top eject prevents that. I have a 336 in 35 Rem which I hardly ever leave in the truck. It just handles so well and my little Leupold 2-7x33 handles most everything out to 175 yards or so. Only time I use the .270 etc is when we go out to the big long ag fields. Otherwise I'm chuckin' 200gr hardballs from the lever gun.

On the other hand, I have a buddy that has a really sexy Model 94 in 444 Marlin, which really is a bear defense gun. But that thing is a dream to handle. The other thing, while both guns tend toward the fatter grip, Winchesters are more straight and Marlin puts more of a curve on theirs. They are both really comfortable to me.

My father has one of those. But it has a bent barrel from falling out of a tree 30 years ago. It broke his fall.

I have a late 40's Model 94 handed down from my Great Grandpa. Love that gun. Wouldn't want to put a scope on it, I like it classic with the open sights :D
