Nice comparison. IMO 85/16 looks more rugged / off-road and 85/17 more street. Neither are bad, I just like the 85/16 look better.

Not sure why anyone would purchase tires based on looks, over their performance characteristics ... form over function just doesn't make sense to me (unless you are building a static display).

Running 255/85/16 toyo MT on my 04, had the KM2s before and had to chuck em because I put a hole in the side wall on 3 separate tires all on separate occasions, plus the KM2 is like ice skates in the snow and ice, warning they do rub the frame in last 5% of your turning radius and if you drive yours any kind of hard you will want to cut your pinch welds and trim away as needed :D

Function is always priority. I went 255 for fit with stock wheel offset, no spacer, mpg, narrow tread performance off-road.

But I won’t lie that styling isn’t important.

Agreed, but it should never be more than a secondary consideration.

The same reason people put giant spoilers on 100hp Civics, and chrome trailing arms, dual fox shocks, and balljoint spacer lifts on their trucks.

I agree with you 100%. If I didn't have the tundra brakes in the front I'd run 15s and not have to worry about finding a tire that's not e rated haha
