I think it is your changed perception.

The side mirrors clearly state that 'objects may appear closer'...

I bought a DC 4x4 Taco. My friend across the street bought a DC Prerunner. Yes I needed/wanted a 4x4 to get me to my fishing and hunting spots but he spent thousands less. A 4x2 would probably have worked half the time off road especially with the traction control features.

When I think about the extra money spent on the 4X4, those fishing trips get a little expensive. We get lots of snow here but our city does an excellent job of keeping the roads plowed. A 4x2 works just fine. I have nothing bad to say about a Prerunner and maybe my friend made the better financial move.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the 4x4 and would buy another but I'm in no way knocking a Prerunner especially if I'm 100% on pavement.

Why would anyone even care what someone else thinks about anything they buy? Its your money, buy whatever the hell you want. If someone is so insecure about what other people think, or so insecure they have criticise everyone elses trucks, then they have some serious issues.

You never know when the road turns ugly its nice to feel all 4wheels gripping, not 1 or 2

2wd is great, as long as there is a 4wd knob on the dash.....

I am content with my open diff 2WD. If I could do it again, I would've gotten at least the locker. I got a PreRunner because I didn't think I would be needing the 4WD and the extra maintenance. Little did I know, I like to go places that are hard to get to and the Florida rain makes it much harder. I got through a bunch of trails today fine thought, but that was probably because I had 5 other people in the truck so it gave me traction. Next truck though, 4WD for sure.

Like I always say. Better to have it and not need it than to not have it and need it.
