quick question - i know on my trd sport the stock tire size is 265/65/17

the previous owner put 265/70/17's on it

    is there any benefit?

    1. smoother ride?
    2. better look?
    2. more tires available in this size?

i see a lot of setups run this size - my main concern is added weight and and speedometer being off. i dont have plans to lift or go off roading.

just wanted to get some thoughts before i go tire shopping

sorry for the dumb question in advance

    thanks

The difference is about 1mph and 1lb in weight per tire. Not enough to be a concern that necessitates buying new tires before what you have are worn out. The benefit is the 265/70 gives the truck about 1/2" more ground clearance while having minimal effect on anything else.

I did the same to my truck. I was able to find more selection and better prices in the next size up (at that time in my area). Now, that may no longer be the case, but saving about $75 and getting the tread I wanted at the time was a choice I made.

Personal preference. It is a little bigger tire, the biggest you can go to with no real downsides, and I think they look a little better. In the real world the size advantage is probably negligible as far as ground clearance, but it is there. If you want a LT tire instead of a passenger tire (and I do) there are more options in that size.

stock 265/65/17's are about 2mph slower than the speedo shows (by gps check). odometer mileage increases a bit faster. 265/70/17's are almost spot on, maybe a half a mile an hour faster than shown on the speedo.

adds about 1/2" to ride height. more meat, looks are in the eye of the beerholder. :D Ski

This all depends on which way the speedo is off from the factory. Imo if your worries about 1mph and 1mpg buy a civic.

265/70/17 in an HT. I'll go to an AT when these need replaced. Good ride, fill the wheel well decently.
