Yeah my daughter is forward facing and she's tall like me. She also enjoys kicking the seat in front of her.

We have a 15 4R Trail Premium with KDSS suspension (fam member).
Also have a 16 Taco OR (mine).

After 3+ months, I can say that the 4R Trail KDSS has better ride quality & of course seat adjustability and accelarates smoother. We all know 16 Taco accelrates like its struggling, meant to save gas.

I will try to answer any q's that you may have.

Because the wife hates the front end of the 4Runner. I actually like it. That and a manual transmission.

Traded my 15 T4R for the 16 Taco.
Because no debt. Paid cash for the first one. Got all my accessories thrown in just to come up to the value I had in my Runner.

Im going from an SUV to a Tacoma simply cause I need the bed, even though I just have a short bed. I fish a lot and fish blood and stuff stinks up your SUV super quick!! Plus I kayak fish a lot and being able to slide the kayak into the bed, using one of those extenders, is another huge plus!! I dont have kids so I dont need 3 rows of seating so the double cab works perfect for me.

I was looking at a 4Runner Trail w/KDSS. Shorter wheelbase, less overhang on both ends than a Tacoma. The KDSS gives awesome on road handling but allows for better articulation off road. It would be more capable off road than any Tacoma.

The interior is nicer and more comfortable in my opinion, with the only exception being the Tacoma has a larger screen for the infotainment system.

The 4Runner can carry more stuff than my DCSB, and if you need more capacity then you can always strap stuff to the very large roof or just tow a utility trailer. Last thing you can do with a Tacoma too, so that's not really an advantage, but it just shows that having a truck bed isn't really an advantage.

My wife preferred the 4Runner, I think mostly just because of the looks.

So why did I go with the Tacoma?

    6 speed manual transmission.

It's just a lot more fun to drive than a 4Runner's slushbox :)

Oh ya, and it was about $6k cheaper.

Tacoma seems more like a me truck while the 4runner is more of a family vehicle. 4runner obviously has more interior space.

Tacoma you got the bed for motorcycles or anything that wouldn't fit in the 4runner or want all over the interior. Higher towing capacity with tacoma.

I was curious as to how the tacoma had a higher towing capacity with the smaller engine, but then i saw the towing package for each one.

4runner just has the integrated towing hitch reciever and 4 and 7 pin connectors. 5k towing capacity same standards as tacoma.

Where as tacoma has class 4 reciever, atf cooler, engine oil cooler, 130 amp alternator, 4 and 7 connectors and trailer sway control. 6800 towing capacity.

Kind of makes me wonder what the towing capacity would be if it had same tow package as the tacoma...my bet would be around 7500 pounds.

Either way can't go wrong with either one.

Now I don't need the 50 inches between the wheel wells as much for laying drywall sheets down the Tundra is an anachronism and the 4runner appeals more. I'd still like the 4.7l though. I've begun to love that 4.7l and don't want a v6.

I like the 4runner but I want to be able to to throw dirty stuff in the back.

I might convince my wife that she wants a 4runner.

We also have both (14 4Runner) and they're quite a bit different. I think the ride and build quality of the 4Runner is far superior and it seems like you get a lot more for your money with the 4Runner. I paid a few grand more for my Sr5 Premium and have a ton more features than the wife's TRD Sport although I did buy it at the end of the model year. Not knocking the Tacoma, love it so far just a lot different than my 4Runner.

    None... sigh
Same here, traded a 2012 4Runner SR5 Premium for a 2015 SR5 Premium. I had a 14 DCSB TRD OR, now a 16. Love both of them, but I'm in the Army, always have bags, boxes, and other gear for the back, normally dirty and wouldn't want it in the 4Runner. I also spend time out at ranges and training areas working with different units, so the Tacoma fits me better. Wife loves the 4Runner and said she's not getting rid of it. Having a pick-up, even with the cover is more useful for me. I like that I can have my kit and everything in the back, with it locked, and not visible in the back seat. It's also nice for trips to Lowes like we end up doing every weekend.
