For the same reason people care about ride quality, tech features, or any other aspect of the vehicle. For most users, a Tacoma is a primary vehicle, so the entire package, including efficiency, is worth considering

    Aussie gallon = 160oz. US gallon = 128oz.

I think the reason that 2024 Tacoma MPG gets so much airplay is because of the puny gas tank, 18.2 gallons and the resulting range. If the tank was maybe 23 or 25 gallon's, less people would be concerned with MPG. Plain and simple!

Why would they make it that large? I think GM has the largest tank at 21.7. 25 is bigger than a Tundra.

The fuel tank is probably the biggest problem with the fuel mileage from everyone complaining..I knew before purchasing my taco that it had a small tank but didn’t care because now I’m retired and don’t need a fuel tanker under my truck. I traded in a 16 tundra with a 38 gal tank and it was great when I was traveling around the country but filling it was not so pleasant.. I don’t care one bit what my fuel mileage is now as long as it’s better than the tundra… and it is
