EDIT: Just to be perfectly clear - global warming is real. The evidence is out there, but nobody is going to convince anybody either way on the internet. You have to do the research yourself and pay attention to the world around you. A good rabbit hole to start with is start with is glaciers.

You love places but the planet which houses them all gets nothing but disrespect. The mind boggles at the close minded parochialism. Every other industrialzed country recognizes this as a threat with far reaching consequences. Maybe it's just that we're too close to our pioneering roots and still believe there's somewhere else to go. I mentioned lemmings because they are an apt description of our behavior on this issue. We're not dumb animals but it does at times seem like it. I'm old enough to remember the acid rain and smog when the population was less than 1/2 what it is today, we did that, both the creation and temporary reduction. Not one person alone but a million or 10 in one city. Smog controls reduced that but sheer population increase is driving it up again while at the same time we're decimating those parts of the system that work to counter our oblivious ways. You ask why so many threads on mpg? The answer is simple, it matters.

 

So get rid of your Tacoma, buy the far more fuel efficient Ridgline lead by example. Today the CO2 in the atmosphere exceeded 415ppm the highest it has been in 800,000 years per the climate change scientist but guess what, the sun still came up. Did you know there were more volcanic eruptions in the 20th century than in the previous 10,000 years but something like that would never have an impact on CO2 levels.
