Ya, I also make sure to put it on the overland friendly gas stations.

Catch me gassing up at costco having an improptu meet at the food court talking about rtts and skottles.

Gas is 2.45 where I live. I still enjoy milking higher mileage numbers when I can. Realistic operating cost expectations excepted, many people aren’t prepared for the extra cost of running a truck as their primary transportation.

The other end of the coin of truck ownership is decreased depreciation and more utility if you want to get stuff that won’t fit or is to dirty in a car or needs towed. That levels out the cost of ownership compared to a Camry.

Man I love how Instagram comments and ripping on overlanding on here is the same as talking about weather and politics for old men haha

Just fill the thread up boys! Hahaha

I'd trade 2mpg for about 70ftlbs any day. I'm happy with the power but would never object to more

Maybe you get 23 mpg with your F-150, but Fuelly indicates that isnt the norm.

Most of the 1/2 tons, and in fact most trucks and BOF SUV's, are lucky to get high teens in combined and realistic driving conditions....that's due to a number of factors (tire weight and tread, aerodynamics, vehicle weight, driving style ect.). Gasoline trucks just aren't going to get great fuel efficiency, plain and simple. There have been some improvements over previous generations; the OEM's will try to implement additional improvements, but IMHO there is only so much efficiency potential to squeeze out of these gasoline engines. That's likely why OEM's have started to take a serious look at hybrid, diesel and alternative engine options. Toyota seems hell bent on pursuing the hydrogen fuel-cell options in North America, though their overseas diesel trucks are well capable of achieving 30 mpg on the highway.

I'm getting about 16 city to around 19.4 MPG highway. I drove to boston and back from my house in Midcoast Maine 360miles (roughly both ways) and i was within 18.6-19.4MPG driving spirited with a headwind on the way down, and then driving to conserve the next week to pick the wife up from Logan airport. I made it on one tank of fuel... at fuel up it was 18.2-18.4gallons.. not too shabby considering roads, and i was typically over 70-74mph nearly the entire trip.

*I never bought this truck for the fuel economy, but it's nice to know what the MPG's are for long trips/treks that I plan to do in the coming years.

    * I can plan an approriate fuel budget, knowing expected fuel economy..

    * I came from a 2013 mazda cx-5 that got roughly 26-29MPG (AWD) It was what I could afford at the time, and it had AWD (I need it to get to work 365/24/7, I cannot call up snowed in, or unable to get to work, there are no snow days working in a prison) the CX-5 did really well in snow.. handled like a subaru, just didnt like the deep stuff.. although it could handle 6-8inches of snow easily.. the heavier stuff not so much.. only got it stuck once high centered on packed snow.

*wifes 2007 mazda 6 bent 2 exhaust valves, and needed $1800 worth of work on a car only worth $3800. I am the bread winner, and I wanted a newer vehicle, and liked the idea of the tacoma (utility, smaller, slightly better fuel economy, towing capacity, and rear locker). test drove a 2016 TRD offroad in october last year.. said "lets do the numbers" payment was near what I had been paying for the CX-5. I pulled ht trigger, had my parents come pick up the CX-5, and treated them to dinner, drove the truck home that night.. the wife inherited my well cared for CX-5 i-sport.

loving it ever since.. think the wife is jealous I buy my truck more presents, and upgrades that I get for her.

I’m sure even Hummer forums have MPG threads. I know Dodge Challenger and Jeep Wrangler Forums do.

I’ve had my Tacoma 5 days: according to the electronic display I’m averaging 13 MPG...which I’m positive it’s incorrect.

That still includes the time the truck sat on the lot getting test drives and prepped for delivery,

True. But in my instance it was true. I bought a 2016 DCSB OR when they first hit the lot. Best I saw was 17-18 before I started adding armor and the thing hunted for gears all the time. Where we are is very flat and I drive like a Pop-pop. My F-150 is a crew cab 2.7 Ecoboost and I average 22-23, same driving style.

I'm in another DCLB Sport, fancier than the 07. Not the same though, I loved that truck.
