Good OEM are tough to find the older the car gets. For new cars it's easier to find OEM ones people take off when they upgrade to something nice than cloth.
If the tear is small enough an upholstery shop can usually fix it.

Leather seats age terribly. They dry out crack, and look like shit in short order.

Every factory leather interior is covered in polyurethane. This makes it last past the base warranty, but not much longer. That means you can't treat it with leather oils and conditioners. Most aftermarket leather treatments are complete lies. If you have custom made leather seat covers then its a completely different story.

Paying for factory leather is just a waste of money, IMHO. Cloth can look good for decades with basic care, just look at any 1990s era Honda.

That being said, its your money so get whatever makes you happy.

Dogs & kids (soon). Easy clean-up of drool, hair, spills etc. I put a coating on mine that makes them bead water and it's awesome. I've had leather in my last two vehicles and it's hard to go back to cloth with dogs.

Leather seats will age terribly if you dont take care of them. They dry out and crack when the conditioner is not applied. Every 2-3 months, thy need to be cleaned, conditioned and protected. Takes about 5-10 mins. IMO better than doing hot water extraction on your cloth seats, and then waiting for them to dry. Part of my job is dealing with leather upholstery, so i know it can look great with a little maintenance.

Most folks dont or just dont know how to care for leather, thats why we see a lot of interiors that look like shit. I think thats why a lot of people hate on leather.

Leather just doesn't work if you wear shorts in the south. Fabric breathes around skin, leather just sticks to it... not to mention that feeling when skin hits leather that's been parked in the sun for awhile.

I clean and condition the Seats in my car once or twice a year and they still look great for being almost 30 years old.

Leather seats in the south is just a no-go for the way I sweat. The only way I would want leather again is if they were ventilated. Hot, sweaty, sticky, and unbreathable. I believe they absolutely look better, but it's not worth it for me. I had leather in my Mustang and between the seats, steering wheel, and shift knob, it was a three-way tie for scalding yourself.

went boating the other day, got back in the truck to pick up the boat after the truck had the sun blaring through the windshield for 8 hours, just about burned all the skin off of my back (was wet after boating, so no shirt on). I still wouldnt go back to cloth. So next time Ill either put on a shirt or put a towel on the seat. Still love my black leather. It took me a while to find a truck with the black leather, and not the brown. Its funny how there are a lot of "interior experts" on here who claim its only the center, no its only the sides, no its all of the top of the seats, but not the center, etc. If all of these guys are "experts", why are there so many different opinions?

    Yep....lots
The first thing I did to my 2018 sport was replace the factory leather with Katzkin. The factory was stiff as a board and knowing I'd be spending some time with my butt planted I wanted more comfort. The Katzkin is 100 times more comfortable than factory. 20k miles and still happy!
