Why are my front tires cupping/scalloping?

Okay lol you scared me there was thinking of selling the truck already haha jk wouldn't do that love my truck. Do you recommend me taking it to the dealership for the check up or a shop that specializes in suspension?

 

Ok thanks man appreciate it, my only concern is the noise it makes. It scares me driving it on highways and all. Had planned a trip this weekend to Vegas 5hr drive and honestly don't even know if I should take it.

 

Rotate the tires before the trip !

 

I'd take it to a place that does collision alignments if damage is a concern.

 

May not have anything to do with your particular tire wear but, I have always been told to never turn the steering wheel while sitting still and try not to turn sharp at slow speeds on pavement.

 

Even if I just got my alignment done this Monday? Would that mess up my alignment? Because my back tires are maybe as bad or just a little better. And also with all this going on, my alignment seems pretty good drives straight and doesn't pull any direction.

 

Okay thanks man appreciate it! Gonna have my mechanic take a look at my ball joints to see if their bad. If not going to do some more investigating at shops so they can take a look at it.

 

If the alignment shop did their job then they would have pointed out any parts that were worn out of specification before proceeding.

 

If you have aftermarket UCAs make sure they are not loose. 85 lbs from memory. Mine were loose and doing the same thing to my tires. Jack up the front with the wheel still on and try to shake it, watch the uppers.

 

It's a toe in & possibly camber issue

Mine has 4° positive castor, zero camber & zero toe in & I rotate tires every 20,000 miles

My fronts look like I have been running on the rear they wear so evenly

 

@Montanabc Exactly as Vmax stated and looking at your tires, you have nothing to worry about. Your tires are wearing, but that is what they do. I would have zero concerns about the tires for a trip to Vegas and more concerned about the price of gas.

Rotating may not be a bad idea, but it could go either way. If the tires have always been on the back one of 3 things will happen when you switch now -

1. You will notice no change at all and have peace of mind that you put your better looking tires up front
2. The ride will be smoother and quieter than it was before and you will think you have a new truck
3. The ride turns to garbage because those tires were on the back for a reason and they haven't been balanced in years

You are going to Vegas so why not play the odds and rotate them. Take it out on the highway see how it feels. If the ride is worse, swap them back. Rotating your tires has nothing to do with your alignment.

 

No sir everything is completely stock. Never touched them or any thing I'm thinking they were maybe just a bad joints from the factory. Just went to my mechanic and he gave it a look and confirm the ball joints are bad. Right side is worse than the drivers side. He also said that to replace them I'll need to order the whole control arm because those ball joints don't come separately?
