There are quite a few Tacomas in this area as well, but thankfully not like F-150's and Chevys. I couldn't handle pulling up to a light and being surrounded by the same truck.

My reason was..... loved my full size Chevy, never a issue, just gas and go. But in the winter time I hated diving a full size truck on icy roads. They are big, heavy, and once they break loose they are hard to control.
The other reason was hunting and logging roads. Full size trucks suck to turn around on a small gravel road.

The key: "A lot of people I know grew up going hunting, fishing and working in a Ford/Dodge/Chevrolet/GMC".

Ever since Toyota began to build assembly plants here (Especially the one in San Antonio), it seems that Toyota has become the Truck of Texas....there are a lot of Tacomas and Tundras here in the Houston area. There are 7 Tacomas in the parking lot at work, and the parking lot only has space for 40 vehicles!

I think there's 2 at every stop light in SoCal. Orange County. On my 11 mile drive home from work one day, I counted 20.

I see a second gen every 30 seconds here in Nor Cal.
People like the size, exceptional off-road prowess, utility and stock ground clearance. Decent full sized trucks are $40k or more, so much more practical to drive a Tacoma.

There are three 2nd gens and two Tundra's on my street. And there are only 25 or so houses on my street in a little gated neighborhood. I think 50% of the total vehicles in my neighborhood are some kind of Toyota.

Yep, I live about 18 minutes from my job, and on the way home I see at least a 5 or 6 Tacomas on the road!!

I wish this statement was true. Large amounts of rednecks in Oregon. Also large amounts of no penis trucks.

Can't even get a preowned Tacoma in Colorado, at least not one with less than 100k miles. i searched and searched for months to trade in My f150, I wanted a 5 spd, access cab.. Found a 09 with 74k. was 10 miles away, no 5 spds less than 100k miles to be found at the time... Now I see thousands of tacos in my town.!! I wonder if their might be more subarus.. maybe not.

I was just going to post this. I just got back from Maui and it's ridiculous how many tacos there are. I would say 8 out of 10 trucks were Tacos. Couldn't believe it.

Because they get us out in nature and back home again.... In a nutshell. I live in Lacey, Washington up the 5 freeway from Longview. I've travelled the Gorge, in the Cascade mountains to Eastern Washington and my Taco always gets me back home. Tacoma's are easier to maneuver on the thin forest trails which is awesome.

I’m thinking OP bought a Taco and then all a sudden saw other tacos on the road. Happens. Also the PNW is full of copycats and one uppers. Don’t believe me? Look at all the yellow fog lights and raptor lights. Get a grip people.

Ill tell you why I got a taco in the PNW is it’s very sure footed and as stated very reliable. Lotta terrain changes and sketchy roads and the taco handles all of it. Plus the cab is spacious enough for me. The seats don’t feel like they weee made for a tweener like the Colorado’s do and there’s plenty of headroom. Clever little trucks that will stand the test of time and torture
