Why are there so many 1st and 2nd gen haters of 3rd gen here

GF let me go too yesterday after dinner date to drive one. I was going with fresh eyes. Its really ugly in person, the lines are all over the place, it looks bloated and the front is just as bad as in pictures, my GF said "your not really gonna buy this are you?" "It looks like a cartoon character". The interior was nice, but reminded me and her of her corolla. I had no issues with the powertrain, it did slightly hesitate but still was hardly noticeable. But gawd is it ugly.

I have a 2014 that I love, however, I have to come up with things on the 2016 that I hate to justify to myself that my truck is better! Everybody on here knows the 2016 is a better truck but we aren't going to admit it, nope... Not gonna happen

 

Define "better".....It's different, but I'm not so sure it's "better" in any significant way. More expensive? Yes. Different? Yes. SOME features better? Yes. Some features not as good? Yes. Grill built to scale for a truck 2X the size of the actual 2016 Tacoma? Yes.

No significant improvements X a higher sticker price = not quite as good in my reality.

 

Its not an cell phone you dont have to call it 3g.

Isn't this a truck forum? Why are we talking cry babies.
To me, it's the same truck, some new sheet metal, nice new interior, different motor and trans. When I look at them at the dealership, I can't help but think it's just an updated version of my truck. I DO like it, but it's no gen 3 to me, all suspension swaps over, frame is the same, just different metal to try and get them ( Toyota) out of the frame rusting arena. No ground up new model here.

I don't think there is a "hate" of the 3rd gen Tacoma. I think there is a huge "let down" in expectations. We all know Toyota is a leader in off-roading truck manufacturing. I think the let down is some of the basic items you see on vehicles in general today... power seats, homelink, mud guards, options for different upgraded packages/leather on other models, disc brakes, etc.

I want an Access Cab OR, with power seats, sunroof and leather with a tow package. Is it that difficult to make, and is this something that would not sale to the masses?
