    An older year model
    MSRP : 52265
    so $14.5k under MSRP

The only reason that truck is such a great 'deal' is because of the massive discount. Which is the exact same reason it will have dismal resale value. Why would anyone buy a used Ram, when you can get a new one for massively discounted prices. Regardless of even considering reliability - and don't get me wrong, if I had to have a domestic truck, it'd be a Ram, and the Cummins is awesome.

That truck is about as base a model as you can get, I mean they did get the *optional* upgrade to cloth seats. But that truck is better compared to an SR for much less money than a much more feature packed vehicle like a OR, Sport, or Limited.

But anyways other than features. That is a lot more truck for the money. These great features on the OR, Sport, and Limited aren't even upgrades that good of upgrades. Leather and a touch screen radio. Wow.

When I head downhill to the grocery the bar gives me 30+mpg. When I head back, the bottom drops out go figure.

I was sort of wondering the opposite. I owned a 1995 Dakota with a 318, and it averaged around 15 mpg. I bought a 2004 Ford Ranger (pseudo-extended-cab, basically a small gap between rear of drivers seat and rear of cab) and with the 4.0 v6 it averaged 17. My 2008 extended cab short bed 4.0 auto averages about 20. I was wondering why Ford couldn't do it right, as opposed to why Toyota was getting it wrong. My pre runner rides better, is WAY quieter inside, feels much "beefier" and also feels more powerful when driving or towing a bass boat (compared to the ranger, not so much the dakota). And living in Birmingham AL area, mine does not hunt between 4th and 5th on the interstate and still turns a lower RPM at 70 than my Ranger at 60.

Eh it's a truck, no complaints about MPGs here. Just wish the tank was bigger is all. I bought for the long haul/ quality.

I believe most of the comments are referring to the gen3 models, you might not be experiencing this issue.

Yep, just saying quality wise either way all Tacoma owners in better shape than the competition. The new 3.5 is sure to improve I would think.

I really think a lot of the problem this truck has is it's power to weight ratio. All is alleviated once you get the blower for it, but in the N/A form Tacoma's are huge pigs that you have to wind up very high just to get it seriously moving anywhere. The issue is exacerbated when driving on inclines on any highway. They just lack power.

The ecoboost has essentially no spool up time (when accelerating off the line the turbo comes on very low rpm) or appreciable lag (when letting off the gas and then getting back on the gas the turbo spools back up near instantly). I know we all have our own perceptions, but this engine is very well respected in the truck community and I have rarely heard someone say negative things about it ... There are questionable issues with long term maintenance, in particular excessive carbon buildup on the valves ... but at least in the power department the engine is very solid. It's a V6 though, so it does sound like shit lol ... actually the Tacoma has a nicer exhaust note.

I'm with ya, just bought mine a few years ago, so I'm invested. Would to love to have some of the options that the new models have like the sunroof lol

Needs an MGU-H and hybrid system to harvest the heat energy and deliver it to eliminate the lag

I think something might be done if we flood corporate with complaints. We are paying too much money for issues like these..
