No, Toyota did not want 42k for a DCLB Sport, the greedy dealership you went to wanted 42k for a DCLB Sport. You got a good deal on your on Nissan, but the resale on that will be dismal compared to any new Tacoma after the same time period.

I still think it's funny people think a cheaper/smaller truck automatically gets better MPG. It's not 1986 anymore.

Yes, 34,000 taxes and fees Included.

My 2013 Tacoma was traded in for $32,000 (with 35,000 km)

So I was out of pocket $2000 and have 2.5 years more warranty, and a brand new truck.

    All prices are Canadian.

The one downside, is when I do choose to sell the Titan it will have a significantly lower resale. But considering the MRSP for my truck was $46,000 I might be ok.

No, that's actually the prices they go for up here in BC (where Vantage is from) and Toyota sets the price with some dickering at the dealership. He got the Titan for $8K less than the Toyota, that's a lot of depreciation that comes out in the wash when there is such a price difference between the two trucks.

In Canada, a DCLB sport comes to $46,000 without any discount or trade in.

So $42,000 was a decent price, but they had a lower trade in $$$ and $2,000 off as I have bought my last 2 Tacoma's there.

Just as a reference, to get a similar price Tacoma as my Pro4x Titan, I would have bought an access cab 4 cylinder SR5.

To show the crazy rise in Tacoma prices locally.

My 2013 Limited was 39,600 MRSP.
The 2016 Limited above is 44,600.

    A $5,000 jump in 3 years.

Yup, Canada....Welcome to TacomaCountry where Toyota's motto is "Bend Over and Take It - Ohhhhh What a Feeling - Toyota!"

I paid just over 28 for my 2010 4cyl SR5. So almost 6K in 6 years. The dollar was not great back then either.

We have no idea what year, condition, mileage or model his Titan was when he purchased it, but yet we're doing comparisons as if we do. Besides that a bottom of the barrel Titan won't hold a candle in resale value to a TRD Sport Tacoma.

Edit: I see he has a Titan Pro4X which MSRP starts at $50K US. If he bought that for $34K brand new with the Canadian exchange rate, I'd imagine it came without a damn engine. Something smells...

In 2014 I paid $35k OTD for a brand new Silverado 1500 LT Z71 4WD with Allstar package (heated mirrors, remote start, lcd screen, etc.), Tacoma prices are ridiculous now.

He bought it new with rebates, not uncommon, my previous Silverado had $12k in rebates off sticker new. Hardly fishy.

16k off a 1/2 ton is common on a leftover where I live. The Titan pro4x is a nice truck, I would have done the same. Resale doesn't matter much when you paid 6-8k less to begin with. I think you'd still come out ahead.

Our work 2013 f-150 5.0 has been full of problems, electrical as well as mechanical. It can happen to any brand.

But evidently not in AMERICA? Or maybe it's just that he does not know he has the internet even though he is on Tacomaworld?

I can't believe so many people here don't think you can get a half ton truck with more features well below the price of a Tacoma.

The midsize truck market is going to be interesting the next couple years with the Ranger and Jeep truck coming out. Toyota is going to hurt and the Tacoma OTD prices should fall pretty good no matter what your opinion is of the other brands

I've said this before in another thread, but I'll say it again here.

63k fully load ram sport, everything you can imagine, with 0% and rebates my monthly payment was less than a 2016 Tacoma dclb trd sport. (No upgrade package)

This is why I held off on the new Tacoma. The interest is the killer (4.89%) and no discount off MSRP (or very very little)
