You are not understanding my skepticism. I am skeptical of experimental data or any claims of truth coming from an advertisement or source that clearly has a conflict of interest.

In any case, did you watch the video?

I’ve never driven in the mountains, but I suspect that driving down a mountain with a heavy trailer in 6th gear riding the brakes could be considered an abuse of the braking system. You can improve brake performance by using engine braking. This is also mentioned in the user manual.

This is getting somewhat out of the scope of the video I posted though. The video is more about the different physics involved in brakes vs tires.

I have no idea what BBKs are. The point of the thread was to share a new educational video on the physics and engineering of brakes and tires that I found interesting.

I also thought it might help dispel some of the misinformation frequently found on the forum.

I don't need to watch the video to know how brakes work. Tires will impact braking distance more in 1 time hard braking than rotor size. In repeated hard braking you'll see the benefit of a larger rotor.

I’ve brought it up a few times, but didn’t have an informative video to share. Besides supporting my existing understanding, I learned some new things from it.

There’s more to the video than that simple concept. Driving for answers makes some good videos.

Yeah, finding a young engineer nowadays, that's any good, is really hard in today's world.

Judging by your various other posts about modding engines I think you might like driving for answers channel. There is a lot of info about modding Toyota and other engines.

I might have made a mistake by using the click baity YouTube video title as the title of the thread. It’s super unclear if anyone has actually watched the video. It’s actually a good video and not meant to troll anyone.

Bigger brakes are as relevant to one stop performance as a tune is to only 0-60 times.

That is only one component of a very nuanced topic

He has some good content.... but upon entering my 5th decade on this planet, much of it has already been encountered. Not sure if that's good or bad.

My Porsche with big brakes and 255 & 285 tires stop way faster or slows down better then my truck with 275s all around.

Seeing the comments, my fault I didn't express my sarcasm correctly.
    Lighten up people!
