Why buttons and knobs on the center console like a car?

Discussion in '4th Gen. Tacomas (2024+)' started by yotadust, Apr 24, 2025.

?

3rd Gen vs 4th Gen front cabin (not considering the 4th gen's seat height and head room fixes)

  1. 3rd gen is more tougher

  2. 4th gen is more tougher

You can select it to do so or not in the settings, just like on your wife’s highlander

What are the part differences? When I was looking into them a long time ago the only thing that was out was the detuned computer code....

as far as I know on the third gen the only difference in the SR and SR5 4x4 crew cab is the chrome badge on the back door and a bunch of cash

    Smart key for all doors
    Coil spring rear suspension
    Rear sway bar
    Etc

yep, just a line of computer code.

There are apparently cooling system differences, so I doubt Toyota would

You are not correct. The detuned engine does not have an oil cooler, and has a different cooling system.

OK so I was picking up some parts yesterday at the dealer and figured I would look at a 4th gen.

That fucking knob. Although I agree that controls related to the transmission should be in the transmissiony zone, designing it like a fucking Transformers cartoon with a ton of nooks and crannies to capture grease and dirt is a travesty to practical design. A button or two or toggle on the shifter would be far superior.

Also, OP, please add 1st and 2nd gen to the poll.

Oh, nevermind, I just realized this only applies the Dainty Gens.

it wont let me change the question to add 1st and 2nd gen. I would def pick 1st if that was the case.

If y'all had the option to have that knob/buttons there or a slightly smaller manual shifter stick for the transfer case like the last gen 4runner TRD, what would you choose?

Second to top tier center console. Would be top tier if it was bench seat with manual sticks coming out of the floor board and not a center console.

    "Stupid!"

I'm giving a BIG LOL as that remark is meant to be funny.

I've become well acquainted with the Aluminum Housing, Wrench, Fumoto, and Draining Kit.

i hope she knows it would come out a lot smoother if she poured with the spout on the top instead of the bottom
