3rd Gen vs 4th Gen front cabin (not considering the 4th gen's seat height and head room fixes)

I have the third gen. if you think the 4th gen Tacoma has a tough interior, what would you call this one shown below? Would you really pick the 4th gen taco interior over something like this 2025 cruiser 79 4.5L diesel? Im just trying to understand y'alls thinking that is driving Toyota north america's decisions.

I mean even the design of the side mirrors is like it was done from a completely different mindset, like someone that actually wants to see what they are pulling, vs the newer Tacoma tiny little side mirrors that you have to move around with the switch just to see all your trailer/boat. They have got to start making the Tacoma mirrors bigger

    I had the 1993 Isuzu Rodeo with 5-speed transmission...new!

This was when I was stationed at Dyess AFB, TX in 1993 thru 1999.

Of course, I traded in that Rodeo for an Auto 1996 Honda Accord Sedan in Eucalyptus Green...wife got her DL on that car.

Back to that interior...the Rodeo was plastic-y but that pic shows the steering wheel on the wrong side! lol

I drove standard transmission while living in England, circa 1989-93 and driving on the wrong side is cool! lol

As far as plain interiors go it really just depends on the vehicle. I'm not wild about the 4th gen Tacoma interior, but I do like the seats better than the 3rd gen and the large radio screen is nice. It's a small truck with limited interior room and a full refresh design. Toyota did the best with what they had. It's not going to appeal to everyone.

I'd really like another muscle car or sports car. :burnrubber:

When you are overlanding and you need to set up your jet powered skottle and portable hot tub but you need to constantly have auto tuned muzak playing even in the outdoors on your tailgate because you love being in natchur.
Oh and don't forget to set up your flashing led blinky string lights that flash to the music. Better than the aurora borealis.

Why? Because some people use their trucks for work. Drive 25k a year on them and want all the creature comforts they can put in there. Plenty of space in the arm rest, glove box and door pockets for all the little things and then the rest goes in the back.

It you want a stripped down truck with plenty of cubby’s I am sure you can find a gentle used 1991 Datsun truck out there that will fit your needs. They also have grab and pull e-brakes. Those were great for power slides.

I think I have only noticed maybe one woman driving a 4G most of the tim when I see the person it's a man driving, and if memory serves I've never seen someone in the passenger seat. It's probably the lack of 4Gs I see on the road, not that they aren't popular. Could be me, but I notice more SR XC and DC used commercially than people driving their personal 4G.

Those 3G Tundras are chic trucks I see women driving them all the time and men. I did see a long bed short cab 3G Tundra being used Commercially recently. Not to knock the Tundra, but the 3G does not seem like the best 1/2 ton for commercial work, with out knowing the facts. More expensive initially, compsite bed, rear coils that can't support a lot of weight, and for some reason I think a 3G Tundras is going to cost more to maintain than a domestic 1/2 ton from the big 3.

I love comfort, I mean like comfort that feels like you are driving around on your living room sofa like the ram 1500, not as in I prefer an electronic spin knob to shift the transfer case, I prefer a floor shift 4wd like the 4runner TRD was before they destroyed it.

I think the new Toyota trucks would be a terrible choice for using for work like construction sites and such mainly because of their interior design is made to be delicate with especially with the buttons and knobs on the center console like that. I want the design of my personal truck to be similar to something that I would be confident in handing over to my employees for a long lasting work truck and Im not talking about dam pool cleaning that I see 100 a day doing.

If the 3rd gen had a somewhat rugged interior, the 4th gen is moving in the wrong direction, so I am definitely not their target audience. 4th gen definitely moved into city truck design territory especially with their decisions on payload and towing and torque numbers (massive fail)

I use it all the time in the shop, yard, etc.

Sounds way better than my phone speaker. I used it for 3 straight days listening to podcasts while framing out a vaulted garage ceiling last week

To each his own I guess. Maybe you ought to jump over here and just leave this forum. Doesn’t sound like a Toyota is for you. You say fail, I say finally a truck worth buying/driving.

its not that I want an older yota. Ive had those. I would just like to get be able to get the ones that are sold overseas that are designed to go 400k miles on 3rd world country roads... Toyota north america makes our weak and just trying to wrap my head around why other than EPA and NHTSA garbage
