So update on Ipod not playing after stereo upgrade, I plugged it in today and woop there it was, playing like it always did no issues, not sure if it needed a bit more charge or what. So it's not the age of the ipod as it's probably 3rd or 4th generation if I remember right, pretty sure it's over 10 years old. Anyway thanks for the help people.
