So you want the Tacoma truck interior to be more "car like"...got it.

Just wait a little while longer, I am sure Toyota will give you what you want.

Hopefully they will bring a nice bare bones Hilux back to North America at the same time for people who actually like pickup trucks.

My wife and I test drove a 2020 RAV4 recently, and "quiet" is not an adjective I would have featured in my description, but to each their own as they say.

Agree our 19 RAV4 isn't any quieter or smoother than my 19 off-road tacoma. Heated steering wheel is nice though.

They're working as fast as they can. They've already got 90% of the 'truck' driving population into a 4 door with a 60" bed...

I would love a heater steering wheel. My wife’s car has one and the car I traded in had one. It’s easy to get use to having!

Oh really, maybe it an option to add it then. Maybe a steering wheel swap. Interesting!

My guess would be that the crossover market is vastly more competitive than the midsize truck market (at least for Toyota). They’re gonna sell more Tacomas hand over fist than the current competition, so why add more bells and whistles (and cost) until they see a sales reason to do so?

Conversely, every manufacturer on the planet makes 10 different crossovers, and they’ve basically replaced sedans/wagons for a ton of the population. You have to offer something more to someone shopping crossovers.

The Tacoma is the most recognizable midsize truck, and it is legendary for reliability. What’s the competition? Colorado/Canyon/Ranger? Most American truck buyers will just go full size. Frontier? 15 year old design basically being sold as the cheap option. And..... yep. I guess if you want a minivan with the top chopped off you could go Ridgeline, but I don’t think there are many folks cross shopping that with a Tacoma.

Hell, my wife’s 25k 2013 Rav4 has the touch lock handles on driver and passenger side. My 50k 2019 TRD Pro Taco only has it on the driver’s side...

Luckily they make both options! Trucks moved up from being an additional utility vehicle 30 years ago. You can obviously still get a no frills hauler (just go to the commercial lot), but I always find the folks who act like a comfortable cabin AND a bed is some sort of sacrilege silly. Just gonna start throwing the "ok, boomer" their way :D

I think it may be because the Tacoma is used off-road more than other vehicles.

    Agreed, I don’t n
Need it more car like. Personally I do not like the rav 4 head unit styling or too much about the rest of it. That said I like the Tacoma’s interior and the hilux isn’t bad but we will never get it

They can always up their game. I think the OR fully loaded is pretty Cush for a real truck, as opposed to a tricked out $60K mall crawler for posh people.

I wouldn’t mind a heated steering wheel. Raynaud’s is a bitch in the winter.

I really like the current RAV4 styling (don’t know about the HU). If it had a little more power...the 300HP hybrid model that’s being talked about sounds great.

I’m OK with the size but need the tow capacity of the Tacoma to pull a camper.

Same here. My wife stayed with her 1.6T Tucson. The RAV4 was excruciatingly loud.

They rolled out a TRD OR for 2020, so we shall see. Personally, I kind of love it.

That looks like a render or photoshop. No snorkel on the OR, and no TRD Pro offered.

LP adventure makes a nice lift and some armor for the Rav, their website and IG have a bunch of photos of lifted ones.
