Why did I have to go to the Dealership?

I went to the dealership to pay for some touch up paint and when I got there I saw a 2008 Speedway Blue DC SB Sport. 4.0L 6 speed. Exactly what I wanted when I started my search for my Tacoma. Didn't have a price tag on it and I dind't want to talk to the salesperson so when I got home I checked on the net. They want 25K. With the economy the way it is I'm sure I can talk them off of that a little bit, but I still owe on my truck, and I don't want to go into deeper debt, but it made me REALLY want to try to trade...

    I have a conundrum here.

Why the heck did I have to go to the dealership?

I would think you could talk them down, particularly since it is an '08. Good luck

I might take mine in here in a day or 2 and see what they'd give me for it just for gits and shiggles. The only reason I didn't talk to them while I was there is because I'm about to graduate from college, so I'm going to have to start paying back my student loans and I've gotta start building a house within the next year or so...that's why I'm hesitant about it. If I didn't have to start buildin the house I would probably have already driven home in it.

If you can "comfortably" afford it then go for it. If you are in doubt then don't. You don't wanna get caught in a couple of years paying back a student loan and trying to build a house. If you have a house in the future be careful of your debt to income ratio, it can really screw up a loan.

MSRP on the '08 is $25480, sticker on the actual truck is $25988.

Trade in on my truck is said to be $13000. Really? 13?

I guess I'll just have to go see what they say.

Man,I only paid $26,500 for my 09 DC sport 4x4 and it was new. They can definately do better on price.

    Too few to list.
There is a dealership around my area that was trying to get rid of their 08's and it has a sticker of $31K and they are offering it for $23K so if you're sticker is $26K, you should be able to drive it out of there for at least $22K or less but no more!

Go for it!!! I paid $24K 6 months ago for a AC before the bottom dropped out. I'd try $22 at least.

Question is, will they move on the price if I want to trade? most of the dealerships I've dealt with in the past dont like to move if you're trading. But maybe that's just my experience.

Don't bring up the trade until you've secured a price.

I got an 08 Speedway Blue DC, 4.0 L, 5 spd auto, TRD OR for about 25k back in January. I think that was close to invoice minus a 2000 rebate.

I'm not gonna get a chance to go by there today, so I sent em an email. He said "The rock bottom price on this Tacoma is $25,691 +++." I know I'll be able to talk him down when I get to go out there, if the truck's still there. It also has a 7 year/100,000 powertrain warranty and 7 year roadside assistance.

that's what I thought. And the '08 has 17K miles on it.

    I'd go new.
Although, the color and a manual combo may be a big problem to find.
