    I absolutely can not fathom how anyone would believe this to be true. Where did you hear this?

    Scientists know global average temperatures twice as far back in time as the formation of Pangea. By analyzing fluid inclusions and air bubbles in ice cores we can determine avg global temp as far back as 400,000 years. By looking at the oxygen isotopes present in ion-secreting marine organisms' fossils we can avg it for over 400 million years. By analyzing glacially-formed rocks we can avg it back OVER 2 BILLION YEARS. That's Pre-Cambrian! No Bullshit.
