Why did you buy a pre-runner?

Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.

    SoCal, no snow.

Insurance is higher on a 4x4 here.

Eventually I'll be moving up north again, preferably the Pacific NW (Vancouver... :D). Or back to New York. Then I'd get 4x4 because I'd actually need it. :p

    TBD
i was debating on a 4x4 or a prerunner. then i saw a very well kept prerunner for a good price. i would never need 4x4 anyways, and when i do go offroading i can do just about everything my 4x4 buddies can.

also. cheaper, less insurance, less cost to maintain.

Got a Prerunner because it was the only choice! Also a present from the old man.

I've gotten stuck a few times and the locker couldn't get me out. I was at places where I shouldn't have gone or where a 2WD truck shouldn't be at.

I live in the Bay Area so there is really no need for a 4x4...

My next truck in the future will be a 4x4 just because I like the piece of mind and the ability to go off-roading where 2WD trucks can't...

I've thought about trading it in but 4x4 is too expensive! If I could do it again, this would be my dream Taco.:

2010 Taco. Speedway Blue Sport Access Cab 4x4 w/camper top so I can sleep in the back!

    Ah, someday!!

But I'm thankful for what I have. I know a lot of people out there aren't as fortunate as us...

Only need the truck for towing and hauling purposes so I got a Prerunner

Have to admit I'm already considering trading up to a 4x4 in a year or so

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
My family had never owned a 4x4 before so when I read that the TRD package had a locker I thought it was the shit.

    Wrong...wrong...wrong...I'll know better next time.

I do enjoy off roading but don't get to do it nearly as much as I want to because of the PreRunner and the fact that I would most likely go alone.

I had a 4x4 Ranger for years and I rarely used the four wheel drive. I don't do any hard core off roading, mainly during hunting season, dry or light rain. Sometime a little snow but I can handle all that with two wheel drive. I bought a prerunner for the extra ground clearance and suspension pieces but I don't really need four wheel drive. If it snows that much I stay home.

Got a good price on it, It gets me from point A to point B. Not really ever snow here. I can still haul stuff if I need to. No mountains or hills around here even if I did go off road, flat as a pancake

    1. I really didn't need a 4x4. Though I wanted one just for the fun of offroading.
    2. Cheaper
    3. Easier maintance
    4. Better MPG
    5. Cheaper to insure.
I only wished I had 4wd once when I got stuck in some sand, but I doubt it would have helped.

My PreRunner has the stability control, ABS, and the auto limited slip axle. I don't off road where I live, and the electronics combined with the PreRunner ride height will give me enough capacity to do anything I need it to do, and be able to contend with the odd bit of foul weather we get in North Central Texas during the winter. I was also able to spec a loaded truck vs. a stripper, and don't have the 4 mpg mileage penalty of the 4x4, something that adds up quick when you put the miles I do on a vehicle.

My prerunner can handle the trails I take it on, which is mostly to a spot where I can mountain bike or camp. Every time some one in my family has 4x4 they rarely use it.

Here in FL you have to go out of your way to find a 4wd. My Toyota lot didn't have any. I live in south west Fl. You have to look for a place to get stuck. You can't drive on the beach here. No snow. I don't go "muddin" . Our off roading here is very mild compared to what others on this site do. No mountains or rock crawling.

With my 3' lift and tires, I can get to all of my hunting and fishing spots with ease. My buddy has had his 4wd for 8 yrs and has never used it.
I just don't have a need for it.
