Why did you buy a pre-runner?

I bought my 2010 Pre-Runner because I wanted a Taco to do light hauling, and it was the best one that was available. And it had a stick. Did I mention that I can't drive an automatic? Honest. I really can't. I never learned how. :)

My other truck is an FJ Cruiser MT-6, 4X4, so I've got all the bases covered.

Don’t have enough time to go out on 4wd adventures.. drive a lot for work, cheaper insurance, I’m broke.. that covers it I think.

When I went shopping for one, I really wanted 4WD. In my area, a good clean used 4WD Tacoma has a price tag that is stupid high. I ran across two different trucks that were almost twins. Both the same year and almost the same miles. Almost the same options except one was 4WD. The 4WD was over $4,000 more. I decided I did not need 4WD that bad. The more I looked, when I ran across a clean 4x4 Double Cab Tacoma, the prices were so high that I might as well have considered buying a new truck.

So I picked out a really clean 34,000 mile Pre-Runner that had all the options I really needed and nothing I did not. I did want 4WD but do not need it and in my years of driving, I have only really needed it once. Knowing myself, if my truck was 4WD I would be looking for places to go with it that I shouldn't. I am very happy with my Pre-Runner and if I really want something to go off road, I will build an off road ride and keep my Tacoma clean and looking good.

I bought myPreRunner because I have never needed a 4x4. I do go out on some dirt roads every now and then and even my 2 wd T-100 could make with its low clearance. I love the look of the PreRunner

My first car was a 76 Plymouth duster. Loved it but gas killed me!

I wish I would have got a 4wd. But ,my pre runner popped up at a dealership and was in great condition and a heck of a deal. Couldn’t pass up the 4cylinder for gas considering i came off the gas guzzling duster.

I wonder if anyone bought a Pre-Runner not realizing that it lacked 4wd?

I doubt it.... would be pretty silly thinking you saved 10k on a 4x4 and duped the dealer))

Mine was a 1959 Triumph Tr-3. It wouldn't start when it was cold, and I learned a lot about operating a clutch because it would hardly slip (it was either in or out). But the thing was a chick magnet!
