Durability and resale value. Also, i refuse to drive granny transmission. That left it jeep vs tacoma and I don't trust crystler for shit.

My Focus RS got wrecked and I took the opportunity to consolidate two vehicles. My 2017 RS and 1998 Silverado. The main thing that brought me to the Tacoma was the manual transmission. If the GMC Canyon came in a manual with the Denali and Duramax option, I probably would’ve gotten that.

My 2018 Tundra sucks gas like an alcoholic, a bitch to park and not garage friendly.
Traded her in for this 2020 TRD Sport. I get 20 mpg with mix driving, if you want good gas mileage keep it stock. Much better looking truck over all than the Tundra that's why i bought it.

I've always liked Toyota trucks, but was always a sedan owner. My Subaru was becoming a money pit so I was looking for something newer, and more reliable.

I use trucks all the time at work so I knew how versatile they are, but past experiences have made me wary of domestic automakers. Since we knew we'd be buying a house not too far down the road, I started looking for a truck.

Things that sold me on the taco were manual transmission 4x4, reasonable price point and Toyota quality.

    It's a secret
Because I would look silly using a ToYoda sticker on a Nissan Frontier or Chevy Colorado...
Ya know....because some people buy vehicles to match the decals they wanna apply...

Have u seen the other mid size trucks ….Toyota is by far the best looking truck out there I looked at other midsize trucks that just made me want to vomit . I wanted a reliable truck that will also hold its value not be worth the price of a base civic driving it off the lot .

You can go to any truck forum and see the same complaints, mid or full size. I’ve been recording complaints here and while there are several, it is nowhere near what other truck forums are and fortunately, not consistent like other brands.

Go drive one for yourself, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the power. I came from a Hemi Ram and when I test drove the Tacoma I honestly said to myself that I couldn’t understand the internet complaints, this truck has some guts....and then I remembered, it’s the internet.

For the reasons you stated, mine were similar and I can’t tell you how nice it is to drive this size of truck. 0 regrets and can only see positives daily. I do tow a boat about 3k lbs although I will admit, no long trips yet as winter has gotten the best of me but for what I have done, no complaints here.

The work beast and weekend warrior rig.
    Hahaha! Exactly!
My last rig was a 30 year old 4cyl 22r running 4.10 gears and trying to push 33-1/2" tires around! All while hauling 300lbs in the back daily... these Tacomas have plenty of power!

I needed a new daily driver and something I could carry my dirt bikes with. Easier to drive and park in the city than a full size, and I only tow occasionally. I off-road often and the tacoma is one of the most capable vehicles you can buy, it can keep up with the Jeeps and fits places a full size won’t. Does great in the snow and doubles as a great camping rig. Reliability and longevity was also a factor. After putting over 300,000 miles on my highlander I knew I wanted another Toyota. Hoping to reach at least 350k with my 16.

It was either a Tacoma or a Colorado, and I simply don't trust Chevy or the sleazy way they sell their cars.

Test drove everything out there in 2017 - Tacoma Sport, Tacoma Offroad, F150, Sierra 1500, Ram 1500, Tundra, Canyon, Colorado, gas, diesel. The Tacoma Off-road was the best for me, three years later still is, no regrets. Do the same, pick whats best for you, and don't look back

I bought mine because I wanted one that didn't have 250K miles on it, and it was available with a manual transmission and fairly simple (IE:easy to work on)

    Do I regret it?
    Yes.

It's weak as piss in the usable rev range and the throttle mapping is awful. Reverse gear is also so high its laughably useless. I average 18mpg on the highway between 65-80mph.

I assume you are planning on getting an automatic, and if you pee-paw around town you'll probably love it. If you tow a trailer, you probably won't.

Other than the motor being worthless for use in a truck, I think it's great. Take a real long test drive.
