Why did you choose a 2nd gen over a 3rd gen?

You make that chart yourself, that's not even remotely true.
0-60 and 1/4 mile times are hilariously off for the 3rd gen.....especially 0-60.

Upgraded my wife from a Scion XA to a Jetta, and wanted a truck for myself again in addition to lowering my payment. I'm personally not a huge fan of the body styling on the 3rd gens, and by trading in my CX-5 GT for a 2011 DCSB PreRunner I cut my payment in half, and saved about 40 a month on insurance. Toyota trucks are the only higher mileage(75k+) trucks I even considered, only thing I really debate myself on is not getting a 4 wheel drive Tacoma.

I am not going to get in a pissing match with anyone over a truck.

I bought mine for various reasons, but the biggest reason was that I was steered away from the 3rd Gen by service writer. I had the 1st Gen PreRunner and was looking to upgrade to a 4x4. I told my service writer and then quizzed her about the pros and cons of each model.

I drove various trucks, both generations, and decided that I wanted a 2nd Gen.

I waited until the right one came a long and bought it. I have no regrets whatsoever.

Ya it kind of is, when your screwing around with your buddy in his stock 3rd gen off-road while I'm in my 2nd gen with 295's and stock gearing and he gets me by a foot leaving a light to merge on highway at 70mph. Real impressive for that massive hp.

Little tree air fresheners. Clazzio black leather seat covers.
Traded my 2011 TRD Sport for a 2016 TRD OffRoad and couldn't be happier! I was never really a fan of my 2nd Gen Tacoma.
In the family we've had 2010,2011,12,14 Tacomas. I've never saw them to be the mighty Thor's hammer that people think they are. My 2007 FJ was alot better of a rig, just my thoughts. 2nd Gens are SOOO outdated compared to the 3rd Gens. To me the 3rd Gen Tacomas are hands down the BEST looking Tacoma made. Having all of the features is nice, at first the whole Crawl Control wasn't that interesting to me. But once you start to actually use it, its pretty neat. Between the heated seats, touch screen nav, in dash display, sunroof and some of the other nic-nac's... I couldn't be happier with my 3rd gen. I say get a 16' or newer!

it's obvious that everyone has their own opinions and likes and dislikes when it comes to which gen is best......there is NO clear and correct answer!after tires 08-05-17.jpg ......I'm just glad I'm a Tacoma lover and they are ALL great trucks!

I just wish they would bring back the 1st gen body style with an updated motor/trans combo with modern electronics and nav.....I'll jump on that!!

I miss my 2004 TRD OR.....something about it just has a soft spot in my heart!

Sounds like you are scorned cause your buddy was faster than you... to pour salt in the wound, he has a much nicer / more capable truck.

I don't think you actually read what I wrote. But congrats about being insecure with your truck.

Picked my 2nd gen over the 3rd gen because I have always liked that particular body style and mostly because I couldn't afford a 3rd gen

That would be a new truck I would buy without hesitation.

Can you imagine that truck with a Supercharged 4.0?

I like the 16-17 cheese grater, I hated the 2018 grill when I saw it online.

Seeing at the dealer it doesn’t look bad really, I like it too now.

3rd gens didn't exist when I bought my 2nd gen. And frankly I'm glad I didn't wait. I have reasons that are different that what most folks quote, but I just don't care for them. Other than the tailgate.

White. Nope, only color I was interested in owning.

A base 5 lug access cab automatic, but it did have the 'convenience package' of PW, PL, cruise, steering wheel audio controls, sliding rear window. Added intermittent wipers and fog lights and a few other small items. Don't regret it one iota. It's perfect for me, for how I use the truck.

You might want to tell that to the couple of guys in here calling the 3G a dog, while they rant and rave about how their 2G is king of trucks....

Poor fellas were so insecure, they had to sling mud around to feel good about their purchase.... Thus, hilarity ensued!

    Merry X-mas.
