    Because TACOS!

    But seriously,

I had a couple of friends in high school that had first gens and I always love the truck. Second, I have no need for a full size (I looked at an F-150 when I was shopping and the tacoma was just more fun to drive). Last, it's just a great truck. It's reputation was a major factor as well.

Growing up, my friend's father had a 1989 Toyota pickup. Looking back, it was the typical 80's truck. Red with a silver stripe, chrome wheels with mud-terrains, and a visor. I was always impressed by it's ride and the quietness of the little 4-cylinder engine (now I know it was a 22re). My father was always a Ford Ranger fan and when I told him I wanted a Toyota pickup when I grew up, he looked at me quite strange.lol Well, when I turned 17, I bought a '99 Tacoma TRD in black. It was actually the first TRD in NJ. When the frame rust took her in 2010, I bought my 2010 Tacoma, and now I have a 1990 Toyota pickup. When our daughter was on her way, I realized it made no sense to have a newer truck sitting in the driveway and it was time to sell it. After my first truck, I love this one the most as it takes me back to those nostalgic days.

I don't like driving the full size trucks (F-150 for example, my father is a ford guy and has had many of them that I've driven). I owned an 04 Tundra for 10 years and it was nothing but an exceptional vehicle. Didn't like the size of the 07+ Tundras so I opted for Tacoma, and I've loved every minute since that choice!

I've had great luck owning vehicles that have good resale value. I needed a truck, liked all the available accessories, and could find many available with $1,000's of extras that I didn't have to pay for because they'd already been installed.

I had previously owned two Toyota 4WD pickups back in the 80's. They were great trucks. Went to GM and Chevy only because I needed a larger truck for hauling duck hunting equipment and duck hunters.

Since I downsized in the late 90's and early 2000's...been driving a '97 GMC Sonoma V6 and '06 GMC Canyon I5. Nothing but Check Engine lights and clutch problems, never replaced so many taillight, headlight and license plate bulbs in my life....I keep a supply of them handy in the glove box, (I still drive the Canyon to work)...

When I purchased my '14 Tacoma PreRunner SR5 V6 back in July, it brought the fun back in driving again. Looks, aftermarket parts availability, TRD backing and overall reliability are the reasons I came back to Tacoma.

This was my first new vehicle purchase ever, after owning 7 different used GM/Chevy/Buick/Cadillac cars and trucks. I just couldn't take having my vehicles plummet in value and fall apart after the 100k mile mark anymore.

I chose a Tacoma mainly because of it's proven reliability, which I believe comes directly from not messing with a good design to much and only refining it over 10+ years. The other factor was Toyota's reputation with other vehicles that family and friends have owned.

    Because of Marty McFly.

    I'm totally serious.

I fell in love with that black 22RE in the original 'Back to the Future'.

It's hard to pick one main reason. I guess one of the main reasons for me was it's the only truck that still offers manual transmission. Also on that list, like everyone else, are the reliability, the aggressive looks, and the almost infinite modding options (although I'm sure most trucks have this)...

And of course....Taco owners are all top notch folks, as evidenced by these forums! :broccoli:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who love the look of that black truck when it first showed up in that movie LOL.

Seriously, the reason I choose the Tacoma is because I couldn't afford a brand new 4Runner Trail Edition so I settled for a brand new Tacoma TRD :D

    Love the 10'+ 5th gen 4Runner

The "Back To the Future" truck, gave everyone a boner.

I couldn't afford the prerunner or the 4x4 at the time, and I didn't want to buy a used truck.

Several reasons. 1.Hyundai doesn't make a truck. My last car was a 2003 Hyundai Accent. Took over driving that after the wife and I traded my 1999 Ranger 4x4 for a mommymobile. Excellent little commuter car, but possibly the most emasculating vehicle. Was actually very reliable. If Hyundai made a truck, I would probably have considered it.
    2. Ford Ranger no longer made. Had 2, a 1990 and a 1999. Both were excellent trucks. Regretted trading off the '99 from the day I did it.
    3. Chevy S10 I had was a POS.
    4. Had an '87 Toyota 2wd single cab. The best truck I have owned. Went anywhere, ran like a top with over 180k on it. If it hadn't been stolen, I would probably still be driving it. Loved that truck. Owning another Toyota was never in doubt.

Reliable, Dependable, Durable, and fun. We looked for something as a multi vehicle. (Camping,Fishing, and Work) I was at 1st thinking about a Silverado. But then I remembered when I 1st became an adult, I had a 1987 Toyota Camry that wouldn't die. I always said as long as my cars roll, I will drive them. Ive had Chevrolet Trucks, ive had Jeeps(which I still do love) but my interest in Toyota goes back to that Ugly ass maroon 1987 Toyota Camry that wouldn't quit. That's why I chose Toyota, a dependable Brand.

Because of the quality that is usually there and hoping it will be like the other four I had (still have three) and my 81 Pickup that has 278K.

The reliability and overall epic, awesomeness of the Tacoma.

Was holding off for well over a year on my purchase until I saw my buddy in his '04 Tacoma pull out a brand new, lifted and stuck Ford F350 from the sand/beach with no sweat at all. I knew it was time...

Needless to say, I owned my Taco 3 days later...
