^^^ Japs put out a hell of a good product. Best brand I've ever owned so far. It is also widely use in the middle east by good and bad guys. Toyos are reliable.

just have always liked Toyota. 6 of the 9 vehicles i've owned have been Toyotas. I look at others and do a lot of comparing and toyota just seems to always win for what i'm looking for.

I've driven Toyotas all over the world. I'm almost embarrassed to admit how I abused some of them. They have always been extremely durable and reliable. I relieved one guy at a new duty station in Japan. As part of the turnover, he gave me his Camry. I have no idea how old it was; well over ten years at least. The guy he relieved had given it to him. I drove it for 2 years, only putting gas in the tank and air in the tires, then gave it to my relief (if you can get cars for free, why spend money maintaining them?).

A some married friends have/had two Toyotas with over 300k miles on them; he had a 1st gen Tacoma and she has an even earlier PreRunner. He just traded his Tacoma in for a Tundra. There was nothing wrong with the Tacoma; his wife knew he wanted a bigger truck so she insisted he get one. She still has her PreRunner because she's not tired of it and it's all she needs.

The PreRunner has a 4 cylinder and its never had any problems. His Tacoma had a V6 and it had all kinds of problems when it was still under warranty. I know he went through at least 3 sets of cylinder heads due to chronic overheating. He couldn't even keep up with my '76 Scout in the Sierras. Finally Toyota replaced the engine and since then it's been fine. But based upon his experience, and the bulletproof reputation Toyota 4 bangers have everywhere I've been, I went with the 2.7L and I couldn't be happier.

Plus the interior is a lot better than any of its competitors. I couldn't see spending the same amount of time in a Chevy or Nissan and being anywhere near as happy.

If Honda made a real truck instead of the Ridgeline I might be tempted to go with that as my experiences with Honda have been just as favorable as with Toyota.

And yes, since I actually paid for this truck I am very careful about maintaining it. I plan for it to last 15 or twenty years. Like my friends' Tacoma and PreRunner.

To piggyback my 'Back to the Future' post above, "all the best stuff is made in Japan!"

Well, maybe not anymore, but in 1985 is sure as hell was. Still pretty damn good though.

Only truck out there in the mid size market where I can get 4x4 regular cab and in a 4 cyl. Plus, the price and dependability. Sticker price was $20k new, Frontier only offered 6 cyl, and extended cab, cheapest I could find was $26k.

Has a high resale value, rated high on consumer reports, I can park it easily in the city, and it will last me longer than an american truck would.
