Always had small 4x4 xtracab trucks. The Tacoma is really the only one left that's worth anything, too bad they're so damn big now! Kinda wish someone would come out with a small truck again like the old pickups. Good truck overall but damn they don't make em like they used to, still feels cheap to me, payment sure doesn't though

Because Subaru does not make a mid-sized truck.

Not gonna lie...they are BADASS! Ever since first seeing them back in 2005 I have wanted one! Best looking truck around and you can't beat that Toyota reliability.

I needed a truck for around the house. I had a 2000 extended cab (2wd). It was a great truck with low miles (~40k). Never had a problem, but with all the snow in Iowa, I thought I needed 4wd. Had a kid, and it was hard to get her in and out of the back seat. Actually had to put her in a car seat that was a little too big for her.

So....2008 models were being clearenced ($2000 rebate). On a whim, I email a dealership. They respond, can xfer truck to dealership on paper. I go, start paperwork, back out. Decide to stick with the 2000 2wd (it was paid for).

Dealership calls back the next morning. They take $1000 off the price. The rebate had expired, but was locked in the computer for me.

Ended up with a brand new 2008, DC, TRD/OR, speedway blue. It can haul stuff. The whole family fits in it. It can go in the snow. If I need to tow, it has enough power and a tow package. All this for $25k.

Sold the 2000 to my brother.

My dad always drove Toyota trucks when I was growing up and they were always awesome. His last one was a red '93 5-speed extended cab 4x4. It looked almost identical to this one, graphics and all (Thanks, Google image search):

His plan was to have it paid off by the time I turned 16 and then hand it down to me. He taught me how to drive in that truck when I was 12 or 13 out on our deer lease away from any real traffic. It was an awesome truck and I freaking loved it. But shifting the 5-speed was hurting his bad back so he looked to trade it in for an automatic. By then they were called Tacomas and the prices were higher and the automatics were pricey. So he ended up going with an S-10.

I've had several different trucks over the years. S-10, Ranger and 2 Silverados. I always wanted a Tacoma, especially after the 2005's came out. After owning various trucks, SUVs and cars, I decided to finally get a vehicle I would keep for years. So I went with the Tacoma and couldn't be happier. I didn't even realize the connection to my past until I was driving it home...I finally got my red extended cab Toyota.

Well I wanted a first gen but everytime I would go to test drive one I couldnt fit my legs under the dash and still reach the steering wheel. so I waited and waited, then they realeased the second gens and gave them a telescoping steering wheel and now I can fit my lanky 6'6" self into one and knew that it had to be a sign from God, so it was bought shortly thereafter.

I had a 93 with 260000 km's with not problems, loved that truck but needed a DC for the room with kids. As far as i'm concerned, the toyota truck is the best out there. My only regret is giving my 93 to my brother because I could take that truck anywhere hunting and fishing without a care in the world, now with my 05 I can't go to my favorite hunting spot. ( way too many big branches, i'll rip everything off the truck and there is a bad washout that I know i'll bottom out with the 05. The 93 was much higher and just made it with the hitch just touching the ground. Also, going between 2 bolders my 93 just fit so my 05 would not).

Well I cannot vote. I got mine b/c it had four doors and I like the Tacomas, Toyotas rock and are very reliable. I had a 2 door and the extra doors help with the Family & dags. I got my Tacoma b/c I really liked it after driving it and it had plenty of room and utility. JOE>

My choice isn't a choice for the poll :(

I specifically went for a tacoma because of the reliability. You can find these guys with 200k+ miles on them still going for a pretty penny. My other reason is I just love the look on the 95-04 tacomas.

I needed a truck. I use it almost everyday for what it was intended for - hauling, towing, stump removal (yup, with a PreRunner), and anything else I can use it for. I keep her busy.
