    I am wondering why people lift their trucks. I have never lifted a truck and just wonder why a lot of people use lift kits. Is it for the looks, being able to use bigger tires. I dont have anything against lifted trucks its just my curiousity why, am I missing out on something by not lifting.

    I haven't lifted this one but I've always done it for the look
    and to accommodate bigger tires. Never went more than
    2-3 inches though.

    I admit they look good but dont you lose mpg and makes the truck work harder pulling bigger tires. I am running a bigger mud grip tire now thats its deer season and my mpg has been less. When hunting season is over I change beak to my oem tires

    a bit but not much unless you go very big. with a mud tire like you have
    that will kill the mpg.

    This time I put on BFG KO2 265/70/17 and I don't see much of a difference
    in anything as far as mpg goes. The ride is MUCH better than the stock tires.

    I have no clue...Never lifted one. Back when I was off roading in the deserts of Nevada. Stock lift was plenty.

    IMO 99% of lifters do it for aesthetics of some kind. A handful are hard core off roaders and the extra clearance is needed. Some look good... Some look horrid.

    I just drive in mud during deer season and thats all the offroading I do. The stocklift has always been all I needed. I figure if and extra inch of ground clearance made a difference for me not getting stuck I probably shouldn't have been there in the first place. I could definately see if I was a rock climber I would want all the clearance I could get.

    3 inch lift, 1.5 inch front wheel spacers
    Yes 20 years ago the stock suspension was fine. Today trucks are too low especially the longer wheel bases. They have no chance on crossing a simple water berm on a muddy seismic line, high centre for sure. The new trucks have the added dissadvantage of a lowered front end in a poor attempt to improve mileage. Plowing snow with the front bumber sucks and plowing mud is worse. Anyone remember a stock F250 back in the 70s. Ford obviously thought more lift was necessary.
    lm mho a 3 inch lift is perfect. Moderation always is my way, 32inch tires over 35 and some lifts are both rediculous and not safe.

    I put 265/75/R16 on my SR5 and noticed I good height increase. I don't "need" more for most of what I do but because I spend a lot of time on NF & Logging roads I prefer to "upgrade" the suspension. I will be upgrading to the 5100 all around and keeping the lift at or under 2". Because the stock leafs suck monkey balls I will look to get a 2.5"-2.75" leaf pack to accommodate the weight of my CBI bedrack for my RTT & the gear I take camping hunting etc. But I really don't need more lift I just think trucks look a lot better with 2=3" lift and a more aggressive AT or MT.

    Sorry Hawaii guys but the 20" rims and super wide tires are as bad as the Hispanics low riders IMO. But hey, not my truck or my money so have at it :oldglory:
