Why did you pick your Tacoma over another choice?

Reliability/reputation. That, and it is by far the best looking midsize made at the moment. No one can really argue with that

I came from the other side, driving full sized trucks for close to 20 years. Since my family is older now, I don’t need the room or towing ability that I use to. SOOO glad to be in a mid-size truck again.

My 2017 Tacoma was my first new car/truck. Did a lot of research, some test drives and spent about 3 months reading this forum to get some valuable feedback as I tend to hold on to my vehicles. Needed the versatility of a pickup and some towing capabilities, and wanted something reliable. Not one issue after 3 years. I didn't realize it then, but the aftermarket support is great as well. Never modded any of my vehicles until I found this forum

I picked the Tacoma because I didn’t want a gas efficient people carrying sedan anymore. I got the most people unfriendly, low mpg truck that seated the least amount of people. My family complains the truck is too tall and getting out you have to jump out. I enjoy it, I finally have a vehicle I enjoy driving and modding and this is my first truck.

There’s nothing better for the size and looks than a Tacoma. Chances are pretty good that the new 4th generations will be blended/looks of a Tacoma with all the rest ... blah!

Drove the ranger, thought it was ok but my mother’s business that she owned at the time had a first gen, a 2k3 I think it was. I helped maintain it years ago and that truck was very, very thoroughly put to work, day in and day out, and it just shook it off and kept going. Way more than I would ever put mine through. Figured based on that history it was the better choice. Not to mention recently I was at my local carmax to stroll the lot and there is a hell of a lot of the new rangers parked there, however, two Tacomas and one had a pending tag on it.

My first ever car was a truck. My father bought me a 1977 Toyota 2wd pickup.
I've learned so much by working on that thing.

I've been in love with Toyota trucks since the start.

I was driving a Lexus ES350 when I saw the truck I'm driving now in a lot and practically bought it on the spot.

In February 2017 I started looking at the range of mid-sized 4x4 pickups. I looked into the Chevy/GMC Colorado/Canyon diesel platform and as much as I wanted the diesel, I could not pull the trigger. Many friends and clients own 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Gen Tacomas and Rave about them. So I went to the closest Toyota dealer, 1.5 hours away and they were able to get me my TRDOR DCLB in SSM. I could not be happier with turning 37k.

My 2002 Tundra AC V8 lasted 14 years without any issues. I wanted something similar and the 3rd Gen Tacoma was roughly the same size with more power and technology. Five years later I still love my 2016 Limited.

I’m not going to say Toyota make perfect vehicles but in over forty years of buying cars, my Toyota’s have by far been the most reliable brand and I’ve had VW, Dodge, Ford, Plymouth, Nissan and 5 Toyota’s.

I was due for a different/new truck after driving my ol' F150 for 20+ YEARS.
I have a friend who has 2 Toyota trucks- 1 has 700,000 miles on it and the other is close to 500,000 miles, maybe more now. Reason enough.

Had a Nissan Frontier PRO-4X that was 12 years old. Great truck, but was time for something different and Nissan hasn't released a new body style for ages. Wanted a midsize that drove and rode like a truck not a minivan so Honda Ridgeline was out. Plus the Tacoma is a 10 for looks where as Ridgeline is a 2. GM and Chevy didn't have anything worth looking at and neither did Ford. The new Ranger sounded great on paper but failed in so many areas, especially turbo lag with the four cylinder and an really outdated interior. My 12 year old Frontier's interior was better. Wanted a Tacoma 12 years ago but the dealer was a jerk so I bought the Nissan. Happy to have a Tacoma now. Great looks, hauls what I need and has superior off road capabilities when I need it.
