I said standard tires. Stock, OEM. I don’t have mpg data because I currently live in my truck and have to idle when parked to run my A/C, charge my phone and warm my meals with a heating pouch. A rough guess if I didn’t do all those would be maybe 12mpg or even a little less. Granted, I do mostly city driving.

I didn't see it mentioned, did you check air filter and search for any intake pathway blockage? Your plugs didn't look very dark, which might indicate a rich fuel/air ratio, but it is worth a look at.

    My guesses,

    - bad compression
    - clogged cat
    - bad timing. If the timing is off, it could still idle fine but be down on power/efficiency

BINGO! I think we found it!
I'm rocking a 3rd Gen that gets 19MPG to 22MPG when driving it around. I even get some 24MPG runs. But the wife likes to go with me to run errands and doesn't want to get out of the truck when we get there. This is Phoenix in the summer and it's been 113° to 118°. The tarmac around us is easily radiating 150°. As a result my MPG pays the Passenger Princess Penalty and my dashboard is telling me I got 15MPG. The truck is rated at 20MPG.

When I drove a 2.3 Ecoboost Ranger under the same circumstances, I got 22MPG to 24MPG in motion, but my idling MPG was 20PMG. Truck also rated for 20MPG.

I'm left to surmise that Toyota Engines do not idle as efficiently as the Ecoboost engine does. And they are two VASTLY different engines from two VASTLY different manufacturers. But I gassed them up at the same pump and paid for that out o the same wallet so there is some comparative value there too.

Could be bad o2 sensors, catalytic converter could be getting plugged, bad mass air flow sensor, air filter is dirty, and shitty gas.
