Why do I need to post 50 times in order to reply to anyone's thread on here?

Ok, what's the deal with this? I've been on plenty of other forums and never have been required to post any amount of times, let alone 50, till I can actually reply or write on someone else's thread. This makes absolutely no sense to me. If you can't reply to anyone's threads, then how are you ever supposed to even reach the 50 replies required? Can someone help me out here haha?

Maybe it's just in the sales threads then? I keep getting the message that I'm not allowed to reply.

Ah, I thought you were trying to post on someone else's thread, not create a new one in the BST thread. That's how I read your first post

 

I guess this is to thwart scammers or people trying to just sell their bullshit on here? I get it, but kind of annoying.

 

In a lot of other forums where there are buy/sell/trade sections but no limitation on who can interact, they are experiencing a nightmare of scamming and fraud. Constant, constant scamming. People getting f’d and losing money.

The 50 post rule is a good one, trust me.

 

Like number 2 in the rules says, the purpose of this forum is to build a community. The ability to buy/sell stuff is incidental. By having a 30 day and 50 post requirement those that just want another FB market or CL just move on. It's a pretty low bar for anyone active in the community aspect.

 

Fair enough. I like having other options when it comes to buying parts, if I can get stuff slightly used for less than brand new, I usually go that route. I've just been messaging people directly for now if I'm interested in something.
