I see a lot of members here buy seat cover the Wet Oklea (spelling) ones seem to bet talked about the most here. Why use seat covers, looks, stock seats aren't durable enough, trying to preserve the originals...?

I only have 181,000 miles on my '05 but the seats are starting to look worn. I put some covers on to keep the seat cloth from wearing through. Also protects the seats from kids.

So when they sell/trade in their truck the new owner gets to enjoy like new seats!

my seat covers are waterproof. I tend to lots of things outdoors in all weather and like the waterproof factor there... and also when my seats are dirty, I can take the covers off and wash them and they are good as new.

I just installed a full set of neoprene Shear Comforts in my 13' TRD Sport. Why? because I plan on having this truck long after it is paid off. Your seats will wear out and look old, used, and abused over time. Seat covers are cheaper vs. new seats or upholstery. It's all a matter how you take care of something you spent your money on. If you have an endless wallet that's a different story...or thread.

Mud, blood, doghair, vomit, high heels, sand, coffee, chili, grease, beer, make-up, pizza sauce, stinky friends, and the sun will damage your seat material. Best to protect seat and retain some re-sale value points on the interior.

OK, thanks guys. I'm old, single no kids and never kept a vehicle more than five years and they always look like new when I sell them. I thought maybe the Taco seat upholstery was not standing up to "normal" wear. I've only had mine for about a month and thought maybe I would have to get seat covers.

I agree with this gentleman. On my 98 4runner, 07 Tacoma, and currently my 12 Tacoma I install wool seat covers on the driver seat .... works well with hot summer months due to the "breathing" aspect of the wool (less sweating). Always have a LARGE color-coordinated towel on the passenger seat to provide protection from junk or ocassional passengers that might have mud/grease/makeup/whatever on them. In the end, when it comes time to trade in, the interior looks like it just came off the showroom floor and dealers love that.

This. Some of these seat covers are friggin expensive. Might as well go full leather. Especially if you can get the dealer to add it on as an extra.

I could see putting them on the SR5 seats maybe but the TRD seats "seem" pretty durable. I usually have a towel across the back seat though for when my 8 yr old daughter eats or drinks something. She's pretty messy.

We bought okele's for my wifes Outback. Like many have said, when the covers get dirty it's much easier to take the covers off and wash them. Also, we have a dog who sheds like crazy. Ever tried to vacuum short dog hair out of a car?

Also, the way you get in and out of your car is just as important. If you slide in and out of your car you are going to destroy your bolsters in no time. I have always had the habit of trying to avoid this.
