You don't know what the POs process to get to this stage. In the picture there seems to be a lot of room but maybe a smaller spacer would have worked but that was all they could get the only way to know is to try without it.

maybe the PO had huge wheels on there, and sold them separately and stuck the stockers back on before selling you the truck ?

at Discount Tire right now. they're gonna take off the spacers but the guy said they probably won't clear my brakes.:mad::mad:

might roll with smaller spacers if they don't clear the brakes.

Those look like steel wheels so it's possible you're gonna rub the caliper.

Those spacers are garbage anyway. Hub centric only

I just looked it up, the stock wheels on a TRD Sport gen2 are 265/65R17 7.5x17 ET30 ...

that ET30 is the offset, means the mount plane (inside of the rim where its up against the brake rotor) is 30mm from the center line of the wheel.

you might check your rims to see what ET they are, its often stamped on the inside.... if the ET is *more* than 30mm, you would need a spacer of actual ET - 30mm thick to maintain the stock wheel spacing.

ET0 ??? An ET 0 wheel would have its bolt plane in the center of the rim, so the two flanges of the rim are the same distance from the center.

I am not familiar with 'backspace' in wheels, just positive or negative offset. In our case, the proper offset is +30mm

correct. 0 offset. the mounting plane is 4.5 inches away from the inside edge of the rim.

with 0 offset wheels, you'd want a negative spacer, which of course is impossible. so even removing that really thick spacer, your wheels will STILL be 30mm too far out. thats still a lot better than they are now, but your steering likely will still feel heavy.

With those specs and being a 17" wheel, you'll have no problem. You run into problems with 16" wheels and clearing the calipers.

if the rims are 8" wide, and have 0 offset, I'd expect the backspace to be 4"... or is backspace measured from the outer edge of the rim, not the tire bead? (the 8" wide is from bead to bead, eg, the inner width of the rim)

Correct. There is rim width and then there is wheel width.

    [(Rim width + 1")/2] + (- or + offset) = backspace

Simple solution...have the spacers removed, mount the wheels, and just spin them on the lift. If they don't rub, then let it down, and drive it around the parking lot for a bit. I had to do that with mine, and that's when I discovered that the wheel company forgot to include the 1/4 spacers that I have. Got them in 2 days, so no big deal.
