Why do people black out their plates?

    We live in a world where people will think nothing of grabbing a picture of your truck and using it for some scam ad. Scammers are too lazy to go out and take their own pictures

    I wonder how many of these people delete the exif info in the pictures they post. The GPS coordinates can even be in the picture depending on your camera/phone settings.

    The best part is they blur the plate, but have a very identifable truck and constantly post about where they are headed to go trail or buy some parts. Hey guys, I live in AZ, just bought this 80 thousand dollar viper engine I installed in my bright pink TRD PRO. I'm headed to a show all week come check it out *blurs plate*

    A while back on here I read someone actually thought that using your license plate someone could obtain your name, then address, and from that your date of birth and then there was some magic equation that would give them your SSN from that.

    Even if that is true (which I doubt), couldnt the 500 people that see your truck in your daily commute do the same thing?
