Why do people lift their trucks

I am just curious why I see people lifting their trucks as soon as they buy one. I don't have problems with people who lift their trucks that's their business. I have never lifted a truck and have never found a reason to lift one. I do have a set of mud grips one size bigger than the oem tires that come with my truck which gives it a little lift. I have read where some have developed a vibration after lifting, tires rubbing, definitely a loss of mpg, and complaints that the engine does not handle the bigger tires as well. I do like the looks of a lifted truck and wonder if that's why the majority lift theirs for a more bad ass looks.

 

Ground clearance for offroad. Otherwise I'd leave it stock.

To fit bigger tires thus allowing for better ground clearance. "Most people" when they lift they truck they upgrade the suspension allowing the ride to be smoother, firmer, adjustable etc. Also mall crawling.

 

This is such a ridiculous question. Its like asking "why did you wear what you wore today?" pretty sure reason(s) would be: I like it, I have to (functionality (such as dress code or uniform)), or some other subjective reasoning or all of the above. Why do people do anything, ever?

Better ride. If you lift with quality components the improved ride comfort is insane. I have only ever lifted 1.5 inches but the intent of lifting was better offroad handling and ride quality.
